YACAT - Which speakers? Help a car audio n00b. *With POLL*

Already have a JBL Basstube in the car. Looking for good rear speakers. They will be mounted on the rear parcel tray.

The speakers will be driven by an amplifier.

Btw: I am in India, so my choice is limited.

Thanks.

Components are better. As for brand, I'd go with Pioneer, but that's just my preference.

Pardon my ignorance, but component speakers = round speakers with seperate woofer, tweeters and crossover.... right?

Yeah, the tweeter is physically separate from the woofer part.

Rear speakers are a waste of money and make the system sound worse. You are better off spending more on front speakers/amp and some real bass.

yah, you can barely hear your rear's. save money and get something really good up front like some components. just run the rears off the head unit. i would keep the rear's stock just for rear fill, if you want to save money.

I wouldn't personally choose those two, but if they were the only choices, I would go for JBL.

However, don't waste money on your rears, upgrade the front soundstage with a good set of components. Will make MUCH more difference 🙂

I've just put a set of Kicker EX6.2's in the front of my car, and I've actually disconnected the rears, and it sounds awesome. The 12" JBL Loud&Clear sub kicks out some nice low notes from the boot 🙂

Confused

Thanks ... but i need volume on the rear sears also....So should i go for good 5.5 inch component spkrs in the front and 6.5 components in the rear?

It depends on what kind of sound you are looking for. I'm not a pioneer speaker fan anymore after I switched to other brands. I havent heard them lately but a few years back I really thought that they did not have the best sound but this also changes from speaker to speaker.
Component speakers provide the best sound and are superb when matched up with a subwoofer. I'm not sure what brands you can buy in India but I use the Infinity Perfect 6.1's and they are absolutely amazing.
If on a budget and no subwoofer, get the biggest speakers you can find for the back and make sure you get your ample bass of of them. Use components for the front, the biggest your car door can handle.

Yeah...or Boston's. I love my Boston components in front, Boston coaxials in rear for fill, and MTX Blue Thunder w/2 Polk 10's in the hatch!
