Can I buy a box from walmart and just cut out a square opening so it'll fit? Or should I buy a special box? Thanks.

Just build one. Get some 3/8" or 1/2" MDF and go to town. Get some guides online, and all you have to do is take some measurements for whatever speaker you have, how much air space it needs for its size, and stuff like that. They you build, put some carpet or something over it and your done.

Trust me, if you do it this way it will always sound better then any box you can buy - ANYWHERE - and that goes 10 fold for something you would buy at Wallmart.

Yes, assuming the box volume is in line with what the manufacturer recommends. If it's a ported box, then probably no. Prefab ported boxes are the stupidest things known to man in the audio world. A ported box has to be built according to the driver specs.

It would be sealed. I'm too lazy to built a box from scratch and these are only $30 or so.

So you were willing to spend a lot on the Kicker subs, but not on an equally important piece such as the box? Thats pretty stupid.

Basically, the box a sub is encased in is just as important as the sub itself, its like buying nice rims and then wrapping them in the cheapest rubber you can find. The car will still handle like crap because the tires were just as important. Or like buying a new A64 processor so you can overclock it, only to skimp on the RAM. Basically what I'm saying is don't skimp on the box.

The one at walmart says it's .75 cubic ft. Kicker recommends .66-1 for the S10L5 so I should be fine right?

I think i'll agree with most people on this, the box is equally important as the speaker. As a general rule of thumb, the more you spend the better sound you get. Not always though.

the box is actually more important than the speakers, but thats all dependent upon the person.

a box requires maybe 2 hours of time, other than drying time.

3/4" mdf should be used.
