Poll...

Maybe some advice on which to take as well. If I am missing any from the poll, let me know.

Edit: I think I want to go into patent law. I was considering majoring in electrical engineering with a focus in computers, and minoring in Philosophy (previous philosophy major). I went to Rutgers for 1.5 years with a philosophy major, and dropped out because I hated it. I am in the process of transferring to a local community college. Here's where the problems occur. I took the non-science general education requirements at Rutgers. Now that I'm going to this community college for a semester, and taking Calc 1, Phys 1, Chem 1, and maybe something else. I will be able to get my associates in 1 semester. I then want to transfer to Rowan and major in engineering, and minor in philosophy. I am considering EE w/ focus in computers, but I wanted to ask ATOT because there's a lot of engineers around here.

Thanks.

depends on what you want to do when you are older. i'm doing computer engineering right now, that might change sometime in the next year back to computer sciences.

I didn't know you could major in engineering one type of car. why not just go mechanical and have the choice of cars to work on

mechanical is the most broad in my opinion.. planes trains and automobiles.. that's how i like to think about it.. CompE is just EE on a higher level.. EE is all the circuits and stuff like that that make up the computer.. Civil engineering is boring in my opinion.. but that's just me i'm sure.. buildings, bridges, roads.. all boring to me

First year was fun, but after your freshman year, prepare for 3 years of little or no social life and lots of time spent on work/lab (unless you wanna socialize with fellow engineering buddies).

I'm pretty sure he meant to post Civil, instead of civic.

You'll need an engineer to check your sarcasm meter

Mine's working fine...maybe you need your Sarcasm Detection Sensor calibrated?

Airports, dams, harbors, water distribution, railroads, waste treatment, and I'm sure a lot of other fields are left out.
