YAC(ar)A(udio)T: does the type of speaker wire really matter?

So im in the process of redoing the audio in my GTI - new amps, new speakers, new wires. Got a 50' spool of 16 gauge Stinger speaker wire.

the thing is after wiring up the front speakers I ran out of wire (wires running from each woofer and tweeter to trunk where crossover will be). So instead of buying another 50' spool and waiting for it to be delivered I used some 16 ga Home Depot speaker wire I had lying around. I noticed that the stinger wire seems higher quality - finer strands of copper and a lot more strands than the Home Depot wire. Also the HD wire had one copper wire and one silver wire. Also the stinger wire is a lot more flexible than the HD wire.

Now my question is is the HD wire going to deliver crappier signal to the rear speakers? Is it worth it to take off the rear trim again and rewire them with the higher quality stinger wire. Am I going to hear a night and day difference? What do you think?

quick answer:
if you are going for SQ in competiton mode yes, if your going for listening on the road (due to road noise) no

not looking to enter any competitions, but I do want the best SQ possible. just wondering if there will be any noticeable difference because of the HD wires

haha, noticeable, haha.

no, there will be NO difference unless one wire gets interference from a power cable somewhere

There are 2 things cited as reasons for usign uber cables: 1. chaneg in the sound, liek rolling off the highs. 2. interferance.

I can link you to ABX testing of cable and show you that there is no audible differnce in runs under 100 feet.

I can simply tell you that interferance can be reduce by using balanced amplifiers and wiring, better grounding, twistign the wire, using coaxil cable for wiring(coaxial is sheilded)

you bring up a good point. i have a buncha wires running under the passenger side door sill (that sill has more space under it) - 4 RCA cables - front, rear, sub from HU to amp and mp3 player from trunk to HU; 2 speaker wires, and a 4 ga power wire. Now all wires are claimed to be shielded...but who knows...

get the pwr wire away and it would be fine, but i have NEVER run pwr down the same side as rca/spkwire just because of the intereference possiblity
