yAC 97 limited? or is it just broken?

My old speakers which are about 4 years old kinda cut out recently, so i bought new ones which came with a subwoofer. The old ones didnt have this they were just basic speakers. Problem is, with the new ones sound only comes out of one speaker and never the other one, i plugged my ipod into the speakers and they worked perfectly so i figured its somthing to do with the AC 97. Is it broke? Is it the way its configured? (ive fiddled around a lot to try and make it work and achieved nothing) Do i need a proper sound card instead of the built in AC 97? It has the latest drivers btw.

I'm running 5.1 off an AC 97 chip. Have you tried different mobo ports? I find the color coding is off. Ex. green plug goes into black mobo sound port etc.

Yep, tried the blue and pink ones. Apart from the typical green one thats all there is.

If I were you I wouldn't spend the money on a "proper sound card" unless you wanted to hear sound out of both speakers... But that's just me. 😉

Found one for £25 the other day, since this PC is my stereo i kinda need good loud music from both speakers.

Wish it did actually.... But nope theyre all in the middle.
