Well it is that time of week again--The most wonderful time of the week--BEER TIME!

I wanna try something else besides Guinnesss tonight, and I've heard about Trappist Ale being some badazz beer that monks brew or something? Chamay Blue being a particular type. It looks expensive, anyone know if it is?

Otherwise feel free to toss up some beer recommendations :D

oh by the way, some more info on Chimay Blue

it is 9% and "This beer is produced by monks at one of the five Trappist Monasteries in Belgium. Chimay is the best known and biggest selling Trappist beer."

Any type of Chimay is great. It's a little pricey but it gets you hammered fast so it evens out.

I have to buy it at a specialty liquor store....its about $4 a bottle....but the bottles are huge (about the size of 2 regular beers).

geeze

I thought there are two sizes, 750ml and 330ml
If the 750ml is only $4 USD? that is pretty good in my opinion
If its $4 per 330 thats expensive :(

Thanks guys these are great, I'll keep an eye for them at the store and compare the cost.

If Chimay is expensive here I might not go for it :(

No 6 packs of Chimay. They only come in the large bottle's, or you can get the sampler with a nice glass.

Trappist is very good also.

Also, do know that if you drink beer out of a bottle, that you do not get the full flavor? Your taste buds can only do so much. When your nose is involved, you get the full effect!

Edit: Typo

Here's what I have in my fridge, back in sampling mode, currently trying stouts:

Sam Adams Cream Stout (4.69% abv)
- damn good beer, good roast/chocolate taste
- I agree with the other guys, drink it straight from the bottle and not from glass (little thin from glass) unless you get it on tap

Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout (7% abv)
- kicks the crap out of the Sam Adams, plum to go with the roast/chocolate
- gets better as it starts to warm, better to savor than to chug
- watch out, the 7% abv will get ya

Young's Double Chocolate Stout (5.2% abv)
- almost like drinking a mocha frap, very creamy and smooth, definately can taste the chocolate
- let it warm up some

Sierra Nevada Stout (5.8% abv)
- overpowering roast taste, if you like bitter stouts you'll love this one
- nowhere near as sweet as the other ones I've been trying

Oh, and best online beer site I've ever come across (someone else posted this on ATOT before):
Linky

Gonna try doppelbocks next time I hit up the store.

Try an oatmeal stout - Murphy's or Samuel Smith are good choices.

Anchor Steam Porter is good too. If you want something that you don't have to chew before you swallow, try newcastle.

*shudder*
I feel like crap

Store was out of Guinness and never even heard of Chimay (let alone Chimay Blue).
They didn't seem to have many other stouts. Sam Adams seems more popular in USA than Canada maybe?
Okay.... hrm
I'll go with a light beer, Corona Extra
Got a 12

...made the mistake of drinking 12 mexican beers in 3 hours
..............and then a couple other brands
..........................and I feel so violated
