YABT: I prefer Bud Light

Just downed a PINT of my preferred beer, Bud Light. Cost vs taste it beats any beer hands down. But get this, I'd probably drink BL over many other beers (which I have drank plenty of) regardless of cost. That said, I can't deny that I savor the occasional Stella.

Who else loves the smooth deliciousness that Bud Light provides?

Bud Light is like boxed stuffing at Thanksgiving. It might taste like crap, but it sure does the job of filling you up.

I've never had Bud Light, but I saw some Budweiser in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago so I picked it up. The stuff is very rare over here and costs as much as a premium import, but I picked up a box to see what the fuss was about. Really was not impressed with it, it's a very average (below average TBH) beer. Felt neat to drink from a bottle I see on American TV all the time though 😛

Edit - BTW, when Americans say "light" beer, that means low-carb right? Over here light beer = low alcohol beer. Both taste like shit TBQH, apart from Amstel Light which is drinkable if I must have something low-alcohol.

I like Bud Light because there are no surprises with it. You can order one in your home town or anywhere else in the US and it's going to basically taste the same. Often it's on tap when nothing else is if you're not at a REAL tavern. 😛

Budweiser always adds rice to their brew which makes the finish more clean. (though barley and beechwood chips are the real flavor in Budweiser...not sure about the bud light recipe) The rice almost makes it taste like there's more carbonation than some of the other light beers. I agree with you that it's good, but I'm goign to also say that most any domestic light beer isn't bad when you're not in the mood for full body or flavor. I know the differences in flavor between the domestic light beers, but can almost say my preferences aren't set in stone...I often switch between them to avoid getting bored.

They're great beers when you've eaten a heavy meal or thirsty after mowing the lawn.

I'll agree. The rice flavor is very nice in some situations.

Light beer isn't necessarily low carb, but have fewer calories and/or lower alcohol. Due to trendy diets in the media, low-carb stuff has become a selling point and Miller has pushed to make its light beer known as having low carbs. Light beer was marketed more based on the color and density of the brew back in the 80s and 90s. Beer ads showed females drinking light beer...Coors Light was big into showing bikini-clad girls in the Rocky Mtns....they were great commercials. 😉 Typically, the color of the beer will depict how light it actually is and most light beers are lagers. Light Ales are out there, but are still heavier than the lagers.

There's a really good lager at a local ballpark that's got a slight hint of lemon to it. Great baseball beer. I'm just bummed because it's a microbrew and only sold at Ballgames. I've been to 2 games in the last 4 days just to drink the beer. 😀 Luckily, there aren't any home games until next week so I get to save my money for a few days before going back.

Edit: I meant to mention that in response to Miller's advertising (Miller Light), Budweiser developed Michelob Ultra to follow suit and try to eat up the low-carb market-share. It's been pretty successful in the past few years and is a decent beer, but I think it's just Bud Light with 100% more water. (j/k)

Perfect reason why I like it. Didn't even think of that one.
I drink Microbrews a lot...if you ever go to a microbrew and realize that the brewer screwed up the recipe (bad batch of beer), it pays to have a good domestic you can trust to get that bad beer taste and hooker spit out of your mouth.

Bud Light is a perfectly fine beer. We just have too many beer snobs here. Not my preferred beer but will drink it with buddies or bars cus it's cheap.

Yep, bland, unremarkable and, consistent. Just like American fast food. The corporate drones have trained you well. They'll never go broke catering to the lowest common denominator.

Yeah. Light beer is the american beer companies way of marketing "diet" beer to men who would never be seen drinking a diet drink (especially in the 60s (70s?) when the term was invented)

Also, the OP should be ashamed for drinking BL. If you want a tolerable cheap beer, Pabst is the only reasonable choice.

bad comparison, most of the world is in love with American Fast Food. Probably because it's delicious. My Ex boss is from Jordan and he said everybody there loves KFC and it's one the most popular place to eat. McDonalds is popular pretty much everywhere in the world. You cannot tell me a Baconator from Wendys is bland man xD

Bud Light is decent, not bad, not good. I won't set out to drink it, I won't ever buy it. But if I'm playing Poker I might drink 1 or 2 if offered.

What is wrong with all of you? BUDWEISER? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

That stuff is piss...plain and simple...you want a smooth domestic beer that doesn't taste like horse piss than Miller ANYTHING is TRULY the only way to go. High Life and Light are awesome beers...now not the best, but if we're talking domestic than yes.

Budweiser...none of you have even sub-par taste.

Miller Lite & Michelob Ultra Amber are my favorite beers to drink.

Sure I like the oaccaisonal porter, ale, or hef but if I'm having more than 2 beers gimme the macro lite brew.

I'm often in the mood for light, easy-to-drink beer. I think Bud Light, Coors Light, et al. are still too watery, but there are plenty of good light beers. My favorites are Michelob (preferably standard Mich Golden, not Light), Grain Belt Premium, and Leinie's Honey Weiss. They're all easy to drink and refreshing. Sometimes I'm in the mood for that. They're more like beer-flavored soda water but eh, still good if that's what you want.

If I'm in the mood for "real" beer I tend to go for something thick but smooth like Newcastle or Finnegans (a local brew made with potatoes). I can't stand the overly hopped flavor of typical pale ales or IPAs.

IPAs are definitely an acquired taste.
