Except on ATOT, which is my long running beef with this place.
But you're not "in someone's face" online. It's a little different when you have some nutjob (in character or not) getting in your business when you're just trying to go about your day.
Ahhh, so aggressively ignorant behavior is more tolerable online, because you're not "in someone's face", just on their monitor?

Kewl.

Then BITE ME, you vaguely French girly man, you! :p ;)

I'm not saying it's more tolerable, I'm saying it's not "in your face". Sorry, but someone getting in my face while I'm walking down the street and acting like a complete jackass is far more... what's the word... personal... than reading text off a screen.

Does he offend me? No.

Do I think that his show and his movie are no better than racist jokes? Yes.

His Borat character might be funny if he claimed a fictional country as a home; calling himself Kazakh takes out any humor IMO. Also, the stories of exploitation that are coming to light around the people he features in his sketches and in the movie are disturbing.

It's a sad commentary on humanity that we view these sorts of things as funny. Sadder that it's not anything new.

You mean the poor exploited racist rodeo man, and the dumb drunk frat boys?

That movie was great at exploiting assh0l3s of all kinds, that's for sure. From idiot I-think-I'm-Dennis-Leary New Yorkers who told Borat to get the ****** out of their faces, etc.. when people in any other city would just laugh, to rednecks wanting to hang homosexuals and Muslims. I don't see how anyone could construe the movie as racist. That would be like calling a holocaust documentary racist because it shows Nazis persecuting Jews. The only people who should be offended are Kazhaks. Then again, the MO these days is feigning outrage.
Well said.

Also, i miss your sig :(
Did both of you temporarily lose the ability to read when you saw the part where I said I was not offended? Or maybe it's just the normal selective comprehension. After all, why evaluate my actual position when it's so much easier to simply build a straw man and attack a view that I didn't actually describe.

Do I think that his show and his movie are no better than racist jokes? Yes.

Whether you find it offensive is irrelevant.. You said that his show and movie are no better than racist jokes, which they ARE better than.
Except that your original reply to my post didn't address that portion at all. Even this more recent post of yours fails to give a reason for why they're better than racist jokes (aside from your assertion, which is irrelevant from a purely logical standpoint).

Kindly either provide a rationale for your position or admit that you don't have one.
