My bro recently sold me his Canon Powershot S30, with the Best Buy 4yr warranty he paid $60 for. The camera has dead pixels on the ccd sensor, as I could see 4 white dots at 4 difference places of every single picture. Luckily, or not so, he bought the 4yr extended warranty plan that best buy so desperately peddles there.

I bring it in BB today, and explain the dead pixel issue to them. The rep saw one small ding on the clamshell door, so small that it could almost be passed off as a scratch, and he said the warranty is void because of it. The warranty says it does not cover against physical damages BUT NOWHERE does it say it the warranty is void if there is any physical damage found on it.
So I proceed to ask him to cite me the line where it says the warranty is void from physical damages, because I just read the policy before I left. This is where it gets really absurd. He cite's the line where it says, "This plan does not cover no problem found diagnosis". OK SINCE WHEN DID A DEFECTIVE CCD SENSOR MEANT NO PROBLEM FOUND!?!?!? Then he begins to bend the statement, saying it means no fault on our side, and gives a dumb analogy saying it's like he bought a cell phone with the warranty and slammed it into the floor to try to claim his warranty. Thus, implying that is what I was trying to do, and I was trying to defraud them.
He even cited the line where it says if at any time I try to defraud them, they will void my warranty. What.. the... fùck?!?!
That's when I gave up and just yelled out in the store, FUÇK YOU BEST BUY SCAMMERS and left. :|

That's fvcking bull. Unless they can prove that the scratch caused the dead pixels to the CCD sensor, they should be obligated to honor the warranty.

no, go to a different CSR and/or go directly to the CS manager...why deal with the $8/hour employees that take orders? Just keep going up until its resolved...

And that's why he's working at Best Buy.

Yep the employees got the manager over, the manager is a bigger idiot than the employees. He's the one that cited that "no problem diagnosed" line.
The employees just said that if I had them repair it, they'd void the warranty and make me pay $25, which is also NOWHERE stated on the warranty.

call BB headquarters and issue a formal complaint. Make sure u talk to a supervisor at the very least. You should've got the guys name before you left. Get his ass fired, unless of course, he was told to do that.

Honestly, would they really care?

This is why I hate BestBuy... Whenever I go in, I go in with authority. 1 Guy tried coming up to me asking if I needed anything when I was looking @ the laptops. So I said no, I'm fine thanks.

I then attempted to figure out which videocard was on this laptop I was checking out, some emachines w/ an A64. I then yelled, HEY BRO COME HERE. Back @ the bestbuy employee.

He then came over and tried to figure it out. After a couple minutes of trying to figure it out as I just watched with amazment. He gave up and tried telling me it has to be an ATI Radeon.

I said oh an ATI Radeon... he replied something like yeah I'm sure.

I just stared @ him, he asked if I was alright. I then pointed to the Nvidia sticker on the case just to the side of the KB and replied "Thanks for a wate of my time" and left.

BestBuy is full of ppl who dont really know a whole lot of anything 😉

Yeah, but it's also because of people like you that turn retail employees into bitter a-holes. You're a jackass man. He was TRYING to help you out...and you stepped on him.

I hate BestBuy myself, but give me a break!

Nice job, arsehole. So you know more then a BB employee - as if that's hard. No need to rub his face in it. Does it make you feel like a big man?

I've realized that it's nearly impossible to get a good deal at BB on anything, so I've stopped even considering going there. I've needed to use my extended warranty there twice, and they wiggled their way out of it both times. It's such an amazing piece of paper that covers absolutely everything, except for the one thing that happens.

Show me an eMachines Athlon 64 laptop with Nvidia graphics and I'll PayPal you $5. Every one I've seen (including mine) has a Mobility Radeon 9550 or 9600.

I'd actually gladly go back to work at Best Buy if not for having to sell the damned warranties. 😛

I don't understand why you're blasting Xeo for. If the employee didn't know he should have gotten someone else who could help. Not just make up an answer.

LOL. That sounds almost like the run-around that I was given, when I tried to get them to uphold their published price-match "guarantee" up on the wall.
