My bro recently sold me his Canon Powershot S30, with the Best Buy 4yr warranty he paid $60 for. The camera has dead pixels on the ccd sensor, as I could see 4 white dots at 4 difference places of every single picture. Luckily, or not so, he bought the 4yr extended warranty plan that best buy so desperately peddles there.
I bring it in BB today, and explain the dead pixel issue to them. The rep saw one small ding on the clamshell door, so small that it could almost be passed off as a scratch, and he said the warranty is void because of it. The warranty says it does not cover against physical damages BUT NOWHERE does it say it the warranty is void if there is any physical damage found on it.
So I proceed to ask him to cite me the line where it says the warranty is void from physical damages, because I just read the policy before I left. This is where it gets really absurd. He cite's the line where it says, "This plan does not cover no problem found diagnosis". OK SINCE WHEN DID A DEFECTIVE CCD SENSOR MEANT NO PROBLEM FOUND!?!?!? Then he begins to bend the statement, saying it means no fault on our side, and gives a dumb analogy saying it's like he bought a cell phone with the warranty and slammed it into the floor to try to claim his warranty. Thus, implying that is what I was trying to do, and I was trying to defraud them.
He even cited the line where it says if at any time I try to defraud them, they will void my warranty. What.. the... fùck?!?!
That's when I gave up and just yelled out in the store, FUÇK YOU BEST BUY SCAMMERS and left. :|
