I bought a really rough used LeMond on ebay a few months ago and had it repainted by a very reputable local shop that has built kind of a nitch business restoring old bikes. Anyway, their shop happens to be about a block from where I work so I had them repaint my bike for me.

I picked up the frame on Friday night and have spent my limited free time since then assembling it. I took it on a 6 mile ride this evening and it is a really sweet ride!

The bike is a 2000 LeMond Zurich. Steel frame (Reynolds 853 tubing) and I built it up with Campagnolo 9spd components. The wheels are Record hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro rims with double butted spokes. The ride is very comfortable yet it is a very responsive bike. I would estimate the weight at about 20lbs or maybe slightly under that.

Nice. I love Lemonds (have one myself). And very good, following the #1 rule of bike pr0n (for those who don't know, bike must have chain on the big ring in front :D).

 Yeah, I learned that from BikeForums.

This bike was originally blue with white panels and big block letters with red outline on the LeMond. I wanted something unique but still recognizeable as a LeMond bike. Cyclart did the paintjob and they did a fantastic job.

That looks awesome though... nicely done.

Yeah, I bought this frame months ago and it's been at the painter ever since. I finally got it back Friday night.

I kind of fell into the deal on the LOOK bike. Wasn't really planning on that one. Oh well, now I have two sweet road bikes! :)

What'd they charge for that (if you don't mind me asking).

The Steelman needs a repaint.

It was close to $700 but they did a lot of work on it. I had them replace the water bottle braze-ons because the ones on the bike were aluminum and they were reacting with the steel frame (paint was bubbling around there). I also had them do a Cat2 finish which is just below their most expensive finish (edit-they clear coat the paint over the decals and wet sand it for a smooth mirror like finish). I had them put a frame saver in the frame and install the headset and bottom bracket as well. Also, the panels are painted on, not decals and they had to make the LeMond decals.

I think it was worth it. I'm going to keep and ride this bike for many years.

This is what the frame looked like prior to paint. This pic doesn't really show how bad it looked though. When I bought it the guy selling it said in the auction that if you are looking for a showpiece bike this isn't the frame for you. Wow, was that an understatement.
