Picked some more apples today. Now, I have two *jobs* to do. ( 😛 )
1. I've gotta peel and core about 1 1/2 to 2 bushels worth, and turn them into apple pie filling / apple crisp filling / etc.
2. I have to finish turning the rest into cider. Made about 4 gallons; some of it was almost too sweet.

Tons more trees with apples on them too! I have a red delicious, Macintosh (I think) and some sort of yellow apple tree, all loaded with apples back by my stream, plus 2 trees still loaded with large apples along my field. And, when I drove through the state forest earlier tonight, there were still dozens of trees with bushels upon bushels of apples on them.
 
I was never an apple fan and never will be... so how much time and effort it takes if you want to do anything besides basic intended use...
 
Oh, I almost forgot - my apple peeler/corer thingy also slices the apples. So, all the slices are a nice consistent thickness. Since these are sweet enough, I'm going to dehydrate all that I can (140F in the oven with convection; plus I have a food dehydrator that can do a decent volume.) I just have to find the right degree of dehydration so that I can vacuum seal them & not have to worry about spoilage.

I love my ipad2, but hate my Macbook Pro. I think I hate the macbook mostly because in general, I hate laptops. No, I hate it mostly because I hate having to relearn trivial little things. Where the hell is the delete button? Oh, I have a button that says "delete" all right, but the damn thing backspaces. Didn't anyone tell Jobs wtf "delete" is supposed to do? Does MS have a patent on it? The "delete deletes the next character" patent? So, Apple now owns the "delete deletes the previous character" patent? And, just how the hell do I start a new game of chess? It got to checkmate on the first game I played, and it's stuck there, taunting me.
 
I have a passionate hate for apples in the raw form BUT in cider, juice, sauce, pie, cake, caramelized, ect. Love them.

oh, you were talking about that Apple... I was referring to the fruit, where the basic intent is to "eat" :biggrin:

Yum. I used to work on an orchard. Many days spent helping round up bushels upon bushels of apples and pressing them into delicious cider and juice. Yum.

Oh, and making apple donuts, too. Double yum.

Mmmmm... I went apple picking the other day. Got a gallon of cider, half a dozen apple donuts and a peck of apples.
 
Cider isn't cooked though. In fact, if the temperature exceeds about 170F, cider no longer is cider. The pectin ends up changing and settling out.
