YAAT: Would this be a good distribution amp?

Rane DA 216A
2 inputs, 16 outputs
I want to use something in the house I'm buying that I can hook up as the "B" speaker output on my receiver, to feed the audio to speakers all around the house. I figure I can set up an intercom system on the other channel.
Does anyone here have a setup like this or experience with this sort of equipment?

Well, I forgot to bump it for the morning crew, but maybe someone tonight has input for me.

Do you really need that many outputs? My first reaction is that I wouldn't personally run it off the B-speaker set and depending on what the receiver, I'd watch how many ways I'm splitting the signal, w/o having an active (amplified) distributor. I've used Niles in the past, but I think that Rane makes decent products.

Yeah, I want to feed the same audio signal all over the house so I can listen to the same music everywhere when I'm doing stuff around the house. I got the impression from this unit's description that it was an amplified distributor.

Don't think this is at all what you want - from the description I believe this is strictly a preamp.

Well, does anyone have links for what I actually need? I want to run stereo outputs to 8 rooms, although I can make do with 6 if absolutely necessary. Maybe I'll just try to build one, who knows.

Depends on your budget.

If I were in your position I would try the following:

Since I really like my Cambridge Audio Azul 540A (couldnt afford Rotels)

buy 4x Cambridge Audio Azul 540A (400$ each). This is good for 8 rooms each having stereo sound.

You would just get some interconnects and plug the preout of one integrated amp into the input of the next integrated amp and so on.

Man... looking at all this stuff, it looks like it will be worth my time to just build my own solution.
All of this stuff is way overpriced, I guess that must be the luxury fee :p

Sorry about my previous post, didn't really look at the product page...I just meant, do you need 16 outputs instead of something like 8 (16's a lot of rooms, heh). If chances are good that you'll be driving numerous locations at the same time, then you should definitely look at an active distributor or some other method of providing more power.

ugh, tired, that was probably an inadequate response again, my apologies :)

16 outputs total, so that will cover 8 rooms with a left and right channel.
I was thinking that unit should work because it says 0 or 20dB line gain, and has output level controls for each channel (or so it would appear from the image).
