So, I am buying a new townhouse that is pre-configured for central air but doesn't actually have central air installed. Before contacting the builder, how much is this going to cost me?

OK, maybe you guyz can help me. I'm moving into a big new house that was built in two parts, both with 2 floors, and each with its own separate stairwell. There are two separate furnaces, each with humidifiers and air cleaners, but there is only one air conditioner. The two sets of ductwork communicate apparently, but not surprisingly, the half the house without the air conditioner doesn't get cooled very well.

I suspect that part of the house without the air conditioner is around 1500 sq feet (over two floors).

How big of a unit should I be considering? BTW, near the front of the house I probably have about 3 feet of space to put an air conditioner which would mean I could use a square air conditioner. However, if I go back a bit (for aesthetics reasons), I'd only have about 1.5 feet of room, which would mean I'd need a flat air conditioner that sits flush to the wall if I put it more towards the back.

I want something that's high efficiency and quiet. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a 2 ton. What about models? The Lennox XC15 seems good on paper, but $$$.
