Its offical I am totally pissed off. Im so sick of hearing the asshats on this forum who complain and whine about Black History Month. Well I have some info for you fools. Many blacks contributed vast amounts of free labor to build this damm country. Infact many of you f00s would not even have the comfortable lives you live if it wasnt from your ancestors profiting from slavery. With this said all I ask is you shut the hell up and pay respect to those who suffered thru this horrible time in American history.

That is all!

Cheers,
Darkstar757

Uh-huh, and we Irish had to fight for your bloody country when we emigrated... do we get Irish History Month?? What about the Chinese that were forced to work on railroads.. do they get Chinese History Month? (I'm actually serious... is there a Chinese history month?).

I think Black history month was/is a good idea, but, and I know I might stereotype, it just seems like black youth doesn't care until someone not black says something about it.

We Chinese celebrate every time a sucker orders Chinese-take-out.... MSG kills.... slowly but surely....

George Washington Carver is the man! I read about him before I even remember there being a black history month. You never change someones opinion by shoving yours down thier throat.

So did white people, so did Asians, and so did a LOT of other races.

History books showcase mostly white people because most important people were white. Case closed. Blacks and other races just didn't have equal rights until more recently. Children have short attention spans and won't retain a bunch of names, so you just hit the key people until they get older and can absorb better late in high school or college. Kids DO learn about slavery, MLK, X, etc in regular ol' history class.

You know what I see in your post? A crybaby. Yep - we all know slavery was crap. No one will dispute that. But how does it really affect you now? It doesn't - AT ALL - unless you let it. You can be born the poorest black man in the country, but you can build yourself to be powerful and have a bunch of cracker ass honkies cleaning your floors and sh!t cans.

Things like "black history month" are huge fences in the way of race relations.

LOL - I'm SO going to get flamed.

actually I agree with you DougK62. The more we focus and single out certain races, whether positive or negative, the more racial differences we introduce.

I think that they should change the name of black history month to racial equality month.

Why have just a month for Black History? Why not treat it like every other part of history? I remember reading about many African Americans during history when I was in High School, and not during BHM. Martin Luther King was huge part of history, like George Washington, and we were taught about them both. It's no more important, or less important, than any other part of history. Why have a month dedicated to it?

If teachers and text book makers actually implmented in that way I agree there would not be a need for a entire month. But as long as we have states like AL,GA,TN,AZ,ID,SD a entire month will be nessesary.

Well they did here in Texas. I read about Mexican History, Black History, and White History and everything in between. Albeit, there was more white history involved, there were more caucasions back then, and even now.
I understand that black history is important, and african americans went through alot of sh!t, I think everyone does. But will having the month of Feb. as Black History Month really accomplish anything in particular? I think we all know how important history is, black, white, mexican and every ethnicity in between, even if we don't know all the names. And may'be we should know all the names, to pay respect to those people who paved the road to our lives today.
But I do think days are a good idea, even if I disagree with the BHM.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Presidents Day
Columbus Day
Fourth of July
St. Patricks Day
Mother's Day
Father's Day

All important people or parts of History.

since you want answers, i want answers too...

why is it black people play the race card when they don't get their way?

why do most black people get mad a bill cosby when he point out what is wrong in the black society?

why isn't there a big outcry in black society for the trash and bad examples most rappers put out in their music?

#1 is a stereotype.

#2 is somewhat true

#3 is a stereotype. There is outcry in black society. There are also just as bad examples in music of other races. Neither are all rappers black.

Instead of doing this to the posts in this thread, tell him where he's wrong. Or did he hit the nail on the head and you can't defend it?

Any month should be a good month to learn anything, including black history. No need to confine it to one month... And yeah, the obvious joke about getting the shortest month of the year. Haha.

Darkstar, its easy to think of those that are anti black history month to be anti black in general but that is not the case.

It is just as easy to think that those that are anti affirmative action are anti black or anti minority.

Lets just call it racial equity month. You say black suffered, and I agree with that. But, like many others, what about my heritage? I am predominatly german (family came here ~1900). What about the inequtiy there.. do germans deserve a month? I think that placing emphasis on one group isn't the way to do it.

Yes, I believe I am a gem to society, thank you.

On the other hand, I think your attitude is a deep scar on society. Blacks have every right in America that any other race has. So WHY the need to keep bringing up race? How do blacks deserve anything more than the total equality that they have now?

You'll ALWAYS have people that will hate you for one reason or another. I'm white, and I've met a TON of people that hate me - because I'm thin, because I'm a northerner, because I'm white, because I'm an asshole, etc. Big deal.

Black people with attitudes like yours is what's keeping this skin color difference in the limelight, and I think it's horrible.

Thats why its so hard to have an open dialog on any subjects involving race relations...its a waste of time since you're just labeled a racist without having your arguments considered.

For the record, I really don't give a crap about black history month. Although there seems to be a valid case for just teaching about its important figures at logical times in regular history class. I have to say, mishmashing a bunch of historical figures together in a lesson plan on the unifying premise that they all share the same race seems like a rather illogical method for teaching a subject. However, I am no teacher.

What?

Blacks - the race that has suffered the greatest injustice in America - gets a sub title, a name in parenthesis, an 'aka' for the shortest month of the year and you guys have a hissy fit. Why not Germans? Why not Asians? Why no-SHUT THE HELL UP. No other race has suffered as long as long as African Americans in America. None. And you guys have a problem with them getting what I mentioned above.

Please.
