Another amdhunter Apple Store Thread!!! YaY~

OK here goes...lol

Symptom: My phone instantly dies when using camera and says dead battery.
Plugging it in will turn it back on, and it says ~50% battery left. Also draining VERY fast in the last week.

Story: I checked in with 94% battery.

They asked that I reset my phone to see if it helps battery. It does NOT. Battery drops to 74% in 20 minutes. In the 20 minutes I waited, I make one 4 minute call, and install Whatsapp. It's the only installed program.

A cute, but retarded looking genius helps me out. She proceeds to run diagnostics and shows me a square. She says my battery is showing some wear, but not in the lower quadrant of her square so she can't replace it. I tell her it dropped nearly 30% in 20 minutes. She checks further and said Whatsapp crashed once, and it caused my battery drain. I am like OK, when an app crashes, it kills batteries? I installed it 3 minutes ago.

FINE she says, and says she is going to take my phone to the back to open it and inspect the hardware. She comes back 5 minutes later, hands me my phone and says because it's been recently restored, she can't judge my battery life it needs a few days and then bring it back.

I just say how about this? I'll sit here for 10 minutes, and lets see how much the battery drops - she say OK as long as I don't use the phone in the 10 minutes. LOL WTF I tell her, so my battery is good as long as I don't use it?

Anyway I left the store, hoping for the Apple survey to leave a bad rating.

BUT WAIT - it gets better.

I get home and look at my volume down button and there is a mark on it - stupid ass genius scratched my IMMACULATE phone and I am pissed! Fine, what am I going to do about it, I can't prove it.

BUT WAIT - I notice something weird on my display - there is a SHIT LOAD of dust under the screen now, and my screws on the bottom look a bit chewed after she opened it.

AND - now my Wi-Fi is not holding connection. I use my iphone to fall asleep to stuff on Netflix and now it won't stay connected. 5 minutes and it disconnects (I don't let it stream on cellular.)

I'm horrifed at my phone now. I am extremely anal and have - a LOT of dust under my screen, bad battery, WiFi no longer is reliable and a scratch on my immaculate body.

I'm pretty sure she dropped it while it was open. Or just hated me.
FML.

1. They probably need to use some kind of logs to determine battery life, which obviously aren't going to be available.
2. Dust is always a possibility, they probably should have cleaned it prior to putting the screen back on if it was bad. I would take it back for this one and have them clean it off and put it back on.
3. Heads on screws that small can get messed up when screwing/unscrewing them pretty easily. Not a lot for a screwdriver to get into, so the metal almost always gets ripped a little. A lot of force really has to be applied when unscrewing from factory-tightened screws to avoid this, and even then it is a PITA.
4. Never opened an iPhone, so I don't know about the Wi-Fi, possibly out of position inside the case or something if it isn't fixed location.

I gave them a flawless device, now there is a TON of dust. Not even a little bit...lol

Flawless device prior - fuck that. I paid a shitload of money (bought non-contract) for this phone and have AppleCare+. AND SHE SCRATCHED MY VOLUME BUTTON.

4. Never opened an iPhone, so I don't know about the Wi-Fi, possibly out of position inside the case or something if it isn't fixed location.

This is going to be impossible to prove, but I have to enable and disable and re-enable WiFi all the damned time now to get through an episode of anything.

Shit.

Go back to the store and bitch some more. Talk to a manager.

Called Apple again to send the phone back. They made an appointment at another store instead with "high priority."

They'll probably put a new screen on it. I want a frikken battery. What's the point of Applecare+. I've had Applecare+ on every device I bought from them and the one time I want to use it...nothing.

Just shows how useless extended warranties are.

Unless its an old iPhone 3G/S, there is no way to see dust under the screen. Apple uses an LCD that is bonded to the glass. The only way to get dust under the screen would be to separate the screen from the glass, which takes way more than 10 minutes.

They've replaced my phone for a creaky home button with no AppleCare. You just had horrible luck with your shitty store.

Was going to reply that most apple stores generally dont even touch the phone besides doing software diagnostics, none of them are trained to work on the phone, they contract that shit out and just mail the phones in bulk to a warehouse or some shit. That's why when you take your iphone in for apple care fixing they just give you a in the box refurbished phone and send yours off to the warehouse where someone like Rudeguy can take the 20 minutes to fix it, then resell or ship them back out.

Don't forget about the 1GB of RAM paired with a 64bit CPU too! That would drive me nuts if I was anal about my phone.

If you stopped trying to hit on the CSR, you would have been aware of the "problems" that you claimed existed afterwards.
