Mostly I play online MMO's (Everquest/WoW/Vanguard) and do video/audio encoding. For sure Im upgrading mobo as mine is a P965 cxhipset which doesnt play well with Linux and Id like to dual boot, although not sure to what. Maybe P35 or P38 chipset. The rest I dunno. I know I should just OC my CPU but past attempts havent been stable (again I think its a bad mobo).

Abit AB9 Pro mobo
Conroe e6600 stock speed
Patriot DDR2 5-5-5-15 (tests fine 6 hours memtest)
8800GTS 640 vid card
Raptor 74 gig for OS/programs
WD 250gig Cavier Storage drive

Opinions?

What's running too slow for your taste? How much money are you willing to spend?

Well, even with the conroe, one video encoding thread will take 50% of CPU and slow things up, two threads cripples it. With gaming I would of course like the elusive higher FPS...well thats not exactly right. Consistent FPS. There are areas in towns when I'll go from 45 FPS down to 5 FPS but unless Im mistaken, online MMO's rely heavily on CPU?
