Where someone died after being in a car crash at that spot?

Well theres one around the corner from my house from a 18 year old kid who (while hoped up on heroin) drove 40mph into a tree. Now the thing is, the accident happened almost 5 years ago, and every year since the accident the family comes by the spot and decorates the permament cross with different things on every holiday. Lately, they decided not only to put in a larger cross (about 2-3ft tall), but they put a small picket fence around the spot. Normally i wouldnt care and i think that the dead should be respected, but its been 5 years now and no one around here really likes have a graveyard (thats exactally what it looks like) in our neighborhood.

There has actually been some complaints about it to get it removed, but no luck so far.

What do you think about this?

(I can get my digital camera and take pictures if anyone wants to see what im talking about)

it reality it is littering is it not? i would say a small cross or whatever, and some flowers once in a while if you like, but a huge picket fence and cross, sounds a little out of hand.

i dunno where it falls, i know there is an ordinance on the books about these kind of things... But the family is fighting that it is grandfathered in....

We just dont like being reminded of the stupidity of this kid EVERYDAY...

They can just do like the state of South Dakota and put up "Think" signs. The state of SD puts up a sign in places where people are killed in carwrecks for stupid reasons - speeding, drinking, wreckless driving, ect.

It's a sign that says "Marks the Spot" overlayed over a big black "X" with the word THINK in big letters.

PIC of sign

It's not uncommon to see groups of 4 or more of these signs on nasty turns or flat highways that are used as dragstrips.

If this is the most important issue in your world, you are blessed.
OTOH, it's not appropriate for the family to add to the size of the area they are using.

Take some pictures of it, I want to see it. I'm sorry for their loss, but a picket fence is a little ridiculous. Next thing you know they are going to build a mausoleum on the side of the road

who said it was the most important issue in his world? obviously it is an issue, for them, if some in the neighborhood don't like it. So he is asking our opinions on it.

Notice my sig doesn't mention sarcasm.

If the picket fence is pissing the neighborhood off, take it down.

Find out the kid's name. Make an upside down cross, paint it red, write "burn in hell, (name)!" on it in black and stick it in place of the one they put there. Tape a litte note to it that says "When you stop putting up your crosses, I'll stop putting up mine".

make an obnoxious sign "<insert his name here> helped kill a judge" and put it next to the grave and if they take it down take there stuff down.

Well it must have a lot of meaning for the remaining family or they wouldn't keep putting it back up, so if only for that reason alone I don't think I would let it bother me any more.

is he buried there? Probably not. They should put their picket fence around his grave (if he was interred).

After 5 years, the cross alone might not be appropriate- a white picket fence certianly isn't at any point. I'm respectful as well of course, but a fence is kind of ridiculous... flowers are perfectly acceptable for however long they want. But this is just my opinion... :(

They are all over here in Ohio. I don't understand why someone would become so attached and fixated on the place of death. But whatever. They don't really bother me.

that is what i don't understand also

what difference does it make where the person died?

do the same people that put those up, put crosses in the bedroom of their grandmother that has a stroke/heart attack and died in her sleep?
