Well when i save up enough money from my job i'll probably try blowing $1400< on some crunchers, i plan on 6 and here's how.

XP 2400+.....................$73
KM266 Mobo..............$48
Knstn DDR266 Vlue....$25
Speeze HSF.......6+ @ $9
Case Fan.....................$4
Case + PSU..............$32 + shipping
EDIT: oops forgot to add i'll be using cluster knoppix to network boot the machines from a Duron1.3 machine with HD i have lying around here, then share whatever DC project in separate directories on the HD for each cruncher. Im prolly leaving about $150 for networking stuff

i dont know if you have a fry's electronics near where you live but they have cpu/mobo combinations for $49 most weeks with the xp 2400 being one of the prime chips they push. ecs motherboards but hell for $49 im thinking of getting 10 and some materials for farming myself 🙂

i so need a fry's near me. all i have is compussr.🙁 i would have to go through a trusted member on the west coast whenever i need something. forget about ever getting 10, let alone 2 of those combos by the time i hear about it.
