YA[Car Audio]T: Aftermarket deck with stock amp/spkrs

I'm getting fed up with my stock cd changer (Lexus Nakamichi). It's having problems playing CDs, burned and store bought. I'm looking into replacing the stock deck and changer with a mp3 and wma capable one but keep the stock amp and speakers. They sound great already, no need to replace them.

I'm pretty sure the deck is sending 5 channels (2 front, 2 rear and sub) of low level signals to the amp in the trunk. So if I were to get an aftermarket deck, could i buy some RCA cables, splice off one end, plug the unspliced end to the RCA outputs from the deck, and wire the spliced ends to the corresponding inputs on the amp?

The other option would be to run the stock speakers directly with the new deck and by pass the amp but this seems to be more work as I need to run speaker wires to each speaker. I want to keep the system as low profile as possible.

I could be wrong but the wiring harness you can purchase that interfaces between your deck and the stock deck's connection (assuming one exists) should take care of the amp wiring for you.

Otherwise, you may be able to do what you talking about, but I'm not sure how much your stock amp is going to like that.

To my knowledge there is no way to keep a factory amplified system in a car when you switch out the deck. You should be able to bypass the amp and connect the factory speakers (minus sub) to your deck, but that's it.

Buy a new deck and a real sub/amp

Ask a local installer whats needed, or ask that other guy on here, whats his name with the kid with the issues, he works at a shop that sells car electronics I think.
