The clutch on the compressor is "cycling". It comes on for +- 2 seconds then goes off for +- 2 seconds. The air never gets cold.
Anything to look for instead of running out and having a new compressor installed?

That is a sign you are low on freon (i.e. leak in teh AC system) not a sign of a bad comp.

Add a can (if its R134a) and that should get it cold again. But you will need to fix the leak as r134a has been going up for some reason?

find the leak pressurize with dry nitrogen and use some bubbles or some kind of tracer "red dye" or "uv dye"
to find the leak its proly an o ring on a fitting somewhere
easy to replace and cheap and the retrofit with r134a or find some r12 replacement such as r409 "hot shot"
remember if u dont find the leak u will end up spending more time and money and releasing "oh so dangerous" fumes :)
dont worry about the fumes they are not dangerous well im still alove after 3 yrs of the refrigeration business

The low pressure safety switch is cycling the compressor on and off because the system is low on refrigerant, recharge the system and you'll be in fat city my friend.
