I don't blame you for being aggravated. I would be too...

At the same time, you GF has a good point. There probably isn't much you can do now...

Best of luck,
Uno

I can't do much about the AC -- it's in. However But there is something I can do - I can request that I be notified 24 hours ahead of time whenever they are entering my apartment to install something, do maintenance, etc. If they did this, I wouldn't have started this thread in the first place. God damn I am so pissed off over this....

Slide a sheet of frozen piss under your landlords door.

I keep a supply of sheets of frozen piss in the freezer for this very purpose. Only problem is that the piss tends to sublimate into the air in the freezer, and all that piss vapor doesn't do much for the taste of my drinks when I use ice cubes. D:

Look in your lease and check local laws, iirc 24 hour notice must be given, ie you shouldn't have to request it. But... it might be a state by state thing and IANAL so read up on it and if it is 24 hours, make it known that this will be abided by or you will take further action.

I'd say 2-3 days notice is better.

I'd be pissed to. This is common sense and common courtesy

It seems like your girlfriend allowed them in and gave them permission to install the A/C. If so, I don't understand what you can do with your landlord.

Pics of gf?

Ok seriously, I think you're completely right to be pissed off, I know I would be. With that said though, I wouldn't go complaining with that pissed off mentality to them for the sake of keeping the landlord/tenant relationship neutral, considering you moved in not too long ago. I'd complain with a level head and let them know that I had a problem with that.

^^ True - if the gf let them in, there is nothing really in the OP's defense, since at that point it would lie squarly on the shoulders of said gf.

I believe that second quote was another text from the GF:

"All of a sudden I heard noise out in the living room and I freaked the fuck out."

Given that, I would assume that she did not let them in unless she has a short-term memory disorder. 😛

I wish my current apartment complex would leave notes on the door after they're done servicing my apartment. I reported a leak in my window (it gets pretty bad during heavy rain), and I think they serviced me, but I honestly have no idea. It would be nice if they would leave a note saying that they came and what they did (if anything). My previous apartment complex did this, and it was always nice to know.

To be clear...This wasn't the case -- they let themselves in while she was still sleeping. She heard the footsteps and had no idea who was in the apartment. She then texted me at work.

WTF!
Is everyone here 7 years old?
"Don't touch my toys!"
"Mommm, he touched my computer!"

Sounds like my Grandchildren.

In that case the landlord is a retard... that's totally screwed up that a bunch of dudes would just walk into your apartment while your gf was sleeping.

People get shot over that kind of stuff.
