Y ou Can Negotiate Prices on New Mattresses?

Only bought a couple of mattresses, both for my kids & always ended up with used for me...

Had read in Consumer Reports about how mattress prices are negotiable & gave it a shot, got a canopy/headboard/frame combo & the mattress for the list price of the mattress nearly $300 difference between the asking price & what I left the store with.

It was like buying a car😀

Yes, their markups are crazy and the salesmen are just as shady as car salesmen. At least models don't change names from store to store when you're buying a car.

Yeah it's quite interesting. There aren't many things you can negotiate but we got a good deal on our mattress we bought. It was a $350 unit and he threw in a frame (it wasn't originally part of the deal) and/or took off money plus we said we just had no way of getting it so he offered free delivery.

You can haggle the price of anything at any store, if you really want to. 😛

Everything except Home Depot. (unless it is clearance, or you are buying $20k ar once. Those are the only 2 exceptions I ever saw) Other than that, yes.

I haven't paid full price for a mattress in 17 years. The last 4 mattress sets that we purchased were all high-end Sealy products and we negotiated on each one. I've found the best times to negotiate are:

1) Late Sunday afternoon - about 1 hour before closing time
2) Sundays when there are football games on are especially good because there are very few shoppers out. The stores tend to be very willing to negotiate when it comes to mattresses.

I just avoid the whole bartering process and buy a Sealy Posturpedic Mira Loma QUEEN for $339 @ CostCo B&M (every January towards the end of the month)

My local Costco doesn't carry anything but the Sealy Posturepedic have no idea why.

Mattress Giant did a 110% PM to a local sale & I picked up a clearance canopy/headboard/footboard😀

Shift manager had t get approval from someone offsite, but they were really easy to work with.
