Y-adapter confusion (simple question)

The card should have a 4 pin molex connector on it, simliar to that found on hard drives or cd roms, its for extra juice when your slamming in a real intense game, they say use the Y so that you wont lose a molex connector on you PSU, but if you have plenty, jsut chuck it in a box and use it when you need it =)

2 power supply molex connectors plug into the adapter, and the 6 pin PCI-E plug on the adapter plugs into the card. That's for a PCI-E card.

For an AGP card, you need to plug one molex connector into the card. I guess a Y adapter could be used to keep you from losing a molex connector, but you really want the card plugged in by itself.

Edit - Got my 6800's mixed up.

I was always under the impression that power gonig to the 6800GT AGP's should be on a different rail and 'Y' connectors or pass-through types shouldn't be used
