xupiter

what in the hell is it and how do i get rid of it?

i guess i downloaded this crap through a windows update. it changes my home page, screen saver, and ever since it reared its ugly head on my computer.. its taking me like 3 minutes to boot, and if that wasnt bad enough.. my cpu usage is always at or above %10.... BAH BAH BAH BLEH BAH

in the actual xupiter file there is no uninstall option that ive found

if i go into the ctl pnl---> uninstall programs ,, it doesnt show up... i COULD delete with norton but it says that it is contained within an important section of the file system and wiping it could cause some programs not to run properly

HELP ME GET RID OF THIS CRAP PLEASE!!!

i am running win xp, 1.8 gig p4, intel mother board, 512 ddr, newest version of win internet explorer, audigy platinum ex, geforce ti4600, with a cherry on top =)

Heh-heh. Yeah, not exactly a Windows update. Nasty little ah heck. And you have to be careful about how you get rid of it, too!

I got infected by this creature on the New Year's Day.

This is what McAfee has to say about it (including UNinstallation instructions):

McAfee's Xupiter Info

Personally, I would not try to go to Xupiter's uninstall page. Can you really trust them? If they secretely/deceptively tricked you/your browser/whatever into installing that parasite, you think they would be so nice to uninstall it?

I have no clue how it got into my computer. I do not go to questionable sites. I do not remember installing any software recently. And I did not see any dialog boxes asking me for permissions to install ActiveX components.
