Xupiter taking over my computer!

Has anyone heard of Xupiter? It's causing pop ups, preventing me from going to web pages (opens it's own) , and changing my home page to Xupiter.com. I checked and there are 2 applications on my computer, and several files with this name. I have no idea what it is, and have run a virus scan, which came up showing no virus. In my program box it's showing xtcfgloader, and Xupiterstartup2003.

I switched to cable modem from DSL on Friday, downloaded Zonealarm Firewall, and AdAware to scan for spyware. Otherwise, everything is the same.

Does anyone know if it's safe to delete the applications, or what I can do? I'm desparate!

It is safe to Uninstall the application. It is akin to a browser ad on and is of no real use.

Spybot S&D is your friend.🙂
If you are running Win2k/XP, do Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up taskmanager and look for any running Xupiter processes and terminate them. Then run Spybot, and have it check for updates.
If you are using Win9x, here's the procedure I use to terminate applications:
Get Resman - at the bottom of the page; run it, and the icon will appear in the System tray on the taskbar; double click it - treat it as taskmanager in the instructions above.
A trend I'm not liking is that more and more websites are using autoinstalling spyware. I looked for Quake III Arena console commands on Google, and one of the sites it gave tried to install something called Virtual Bouncer when I left the page.
Oh yes, and when you run Spybot, make sure Internet Explorer is closed.
