XTreme-G 84.56.v2 Rev. 1

Yet another XG driver. This post is designed to inform people about the XTreme-G Driver. It introduces better performance and IQ compared to the stock Nvidia driver. It's worth taking a look at.

Also performance and IQ vary from machine to machine and person to person.

The 84.56 seems like a good driver. Performance (for me at least) is at an all time high. IQ is also up there with the 84.22 driver. Not sure if it's as good, but I'm not really that good at telling these things, but it's definitly close (as in not noticable, for me)

This is a driver worth looking at (based on my experience and the experiences of the people at XG Forums. The Rev. 1 driver just introduces a tweak the increase performance a little bit (hardly if not noticable).

I think a (long) quote from there forums explains it well:

XG 84.56 version 2 scores
**NOTE REZ MEANS RESOLUTION*

3d mark 2001 Score maxed settings 16697
3d mark 2003 Score maxed settings 8242
3d mark 2005 Score maxed settings 3391
3d mark 2006 Score maxed settings

All maxed settings unless told otherwise

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 on FarCry

Fraps with Rez at 1024by768 With Next gen effexts on with TomeRaider Ledgends (17-25fps) vsame Fps but their is very minute jitter. WEIRD

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 With Next gen effexts off with TomeRaider Ledgends (45-76fps) No jitter at all Plus performance increase.... What gives ehhh.

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 on Condemned: Criminal Origins (24Fps)

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 on Trackmania Sunrise (50Fps)

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 on Oblivion (29Fps)

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 on Trackmainia Nations (41Fps)

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 on GuildWars (33Fps)

Fraps with Rez at 1280by1024 on GuildWars Factions (33Fps)

CONCLUSION
The driver that performed better is the XG 84.56v2 Driver.
Video quality is better on the XG 84.56v2 driver their are better
particle effects, as in physics ones weird but really cool at the same
time, but they still make the game faster just by a bit.
Over all the performance increase for me was a 2 to 200 point increase weeeee.
And smoother gameplay

OMG I have over a 200 Point increase in 3d Mark 2006 from the beta 1 drivers of xg 84.56 which was 1108 and now it is 1376 that is awsome... I could actually see it run smooth in all but one game test WOW!!!

This is to accomidate my earlier post..
All i can say is i should have done this test earlier.
I'm Very Very HAPPY right now

i decided to give these a try...so far not much of a difference between 84.56v2 and 84.43 that i was using. i ran a few benchmarks and here's what i got so far...

84.56v2 in BOLD

7800gt @490/1200, A64 3700+ newark@2.7ghz

Farcry: 1280x1024 max. detail 4aa/16af
ubisoft volcano 88/88
ubisoft training 72/71

HL2 Lost Coast Stress test: 1280x1024 no HDR, max detail 4aa/16af
78/80

F.E.A.R MP demo: 1280x960 Max. detail (soft shadow/off) 4aa/16af
min. 30/28
avg. 48/48
high. 105/104

NV control panel was set to HQ...not much of a difference in performance and i couldn't tell any differences in IQ, and these drivers seem just as stable as the 84.43 that i was previously using...so i'll keep these for a while.

had to bring this back up...has anyone tried these drivers or is using them currently, if so please do me a favor.

in the NV control panel, set your image quality to High Performance, by default these optimizations should be enable:

trilinear optimization: ON
anistropic mip filter optimization: ON
anistropic sample optimization: ON

if High Quality is chosen these optimizations are set to OFF by default...regardless if i choose HP or HQ these optimizations stay OFF unless they are enabled...i guess XG were able to "tweak" these optimizations into staying off by default.

really curious if anyone else noticed this...or is it just me?

When will this "Xtreme" crap end? It's spelled "Extreme" people. It's not any cooler without the E.
