I picked up a little Honda XR70r, the only way I can get it to start is if I spray carb cleaner or gas in the intake then it will start no problem. It is getting a spark and I have cleaned the carb, any suggestions?

How well did you clean the carb? Keep in mind the jets and openings on a 70 are tiny.

How does it run once its going? Idle ok? WOT ok?

It wont stay running, this is with the carb off and I spray some carb cleaner in it. When the gas is turn on the gas will eventually pour from the bowl drain. Maybe the float is not working properly

Time for carb clean and rebuild. To best accomplish this you need access to an Ultra sonic cleaner

Xr70 is going to be vintage.
If it were me, i would just buy a whole new carb for 100 bucks.

New gas

The oring that goes between the carb and intake is messed up, could I get by with getting one from a parts store or should I just order the card rebuild kit?

Should be able to get one from the parts house but make sure it is a metric and not a standard size...

But the best thing would be a carb kit for it... (or atleast clean it real good)

I let it sit in Pinesol(read online it works great) for hours today, got an oring at Nappa and put it back together. Gas is running from the bowl drain tube non stop

Is the float saturated with fuel? Shake it to see if you can feel gas moving around inside it. If it's completely full of gas, you may not be able to tell by shaking it, but it will feel heavy. It should be very light because it's hollow.

You've either got a bad float or a bad needle and/or seat.

The float will not come with a rebuild kit.

I ordered the rebuild kit and my float doesnt appear to have any gas in it
There will be a tang on the float that the needle valve bears against. When the float rises as fuel enters the bowl, the needle rises with it and seals off the flow of fuel at the seat. Be sure to replace both those parts, both the needle and the seat.

Also, what you want to do, is with the needle, seat and float installed, invert the carburetor and make sure that the float is more or less parallel to the body of the carb where the bowl seals. That's the rule of thumb with small engines. If it is not parallel, bend the tang on the float until it is. It's a trial and error process.

If the kit should happen to come with instructions and those instructions vary from what I've told you, of course follow the instructions.

I just picked up another little bike today, a Kawasaki KLX 110. It runs but the choke needs to be on, maybe I will just order a rebuild kit for this as well

In my experience, rebuild kits are rarely needed. In the case of this bike, I think a good disassembly and cleaning would fix your problem. It's more than likely running lean because jets and passageways are gummed up.

This thread inspired me to take apart the carb on a 1 year'ish old mower we got off of Craigs List. Apparenty the seller moved to a condo and there's no lawn lol. Well, he ran it dry and let it set for about 6 months. Would not run unless I sprayed starting fluid continuously into the carb.

Took the carb off, took it apart (all 3 pieces lol), found some rubbery goo, blew out the jet(s) with an air compressor, put it back together, filled it up with gas, and it started on the first pull!
