XPS vs PDF

After spending the last 2 days to create a PDF that displays everything exactly as the original file (MS publisher in Office 2007 B2TR), I have given up ... XPS is the better standard even if it is a pain since nobody has the viewers.

PNG files with transparencies get horribly botched up in PDF while XPS does a very decent job of preserving/keeping them.

 
I've never had any trouble with PDF files exported from Adobe InDesign or Illustrator. By what method were you trying to export the PDF?
