XP's encryption feature

I have some important files on my computer that I'm burning onto CD in preparation for transfering all of my data to my soon-to-be-built computer. I encrypted them using the XP's built-in feature. Will I be able to access them from my new system? (I plan on keeping my hard drive if that makes any difference). I've tested the CDs on another computer in our network and it looks like I can access them from there.

Am I safe or should I put the files back on my HD and reburn them as unencrypted?
