lastnight my surge protecter died. i was using my comp then all of a sudden my comp shutdown. for a second there i thought there was somehting wrong with my comp, but then i realized my TV got shut off to. Immediately i thought it was most likely the surge protecter at fault. I went over to the surge protecter and hit the on/off switch. Out of know where i heard a little pop noise, small electricity sparks came out of it. it scared the crap outta me. i immedetaly took out my pc plug and all other plugs with it and just put the plugs into a wall socket.
I check to see if my comp was fine. I rebooted and tested stuff out. Went on some games and nothing bad happened. Everything seems normal except for ONE time after my surge protecter died on me when i wanted to restart my comp it didn't wanna restart. Power light still on, HD light was solid and monitor was OFF. After that i hitted the restarted button manually then restarted 4-5 times. It restarted everytime after that. A coincidence? Now here is the problem i am having. After testing if my restarting was working and thinking it was okay.... I realized i wanted to empty my temp folder out. I do disk cleanup to always clean out my temp folder of net files, but this time around it NEVER works now. for some reason the disk cleanup status window stays stuck at about 20%. It doesn't freeze, i can move the status window around but again, stays stuck at 20%. HD light no longer flashes. i can only cancel it. I restarted the comp mulitple times and checked the disk for errors and the disk cleanup still refuses to work. 😕 Is this all just complete coincidence or did my dying surge protector messed up my comp? 🙁
