in win2kpro all i had to do was ctrl alt del and click on lock and it locked the system till i got back.. now in XP pro it just brings up the tack manager screen... is there a way to lock the system when away instead of having to actually log out???

turn the "welcome screen" back off... then you'll get win2k-like behavior. Or just use windows key + L and lock it even faster than with the win2k method 😉
