Trying to solve a mystery. Data drive which is one of a paired set of identical drives in M+S configuration on a Highpoint HPT374-based controller. Windows XP Professional (w/SP2 & all CUs) now only reports drive Healthy in Diskmanager, but without a file system. The disk had been formatted NTFS using Disk Manager.
Partition Magic 8, which is used only for basic diagnostics, identifies the drive being NTFS formatted, but also with Bad File Record Signature. I don't believe I have ever run into this kind of problem (lucky me?). Very limited Google results, some for fee only.
Anyone have any clues, here? Some additional information:
XP's Error Checking doesn't seem to work regardless of sub-option chosen.
