??xplore.exe I need help to remove this Adware/Spyware DOS Program

I have Adaware and Spybot and Symantec SystemWorks, Antispam, Norton Firewall. I used all this products but can't remove this DOS Program. Ran computer in safe mode and tried removing this, unhide files and folders since this is hidden, read-only file and ran and scanned it in safe mode again. Ran SystemWorks Wipe File but it says I'm not authorized to delete this. I'm reading HijackThis from www.spychecker.com, but I need everybodys opinion before I download this. I'm using XP professional SP2.

There are a number of boot cds available online that recognize NTFS. If you were to boot from one of these, you can delete anything.

this seems to be a common adware problem only adressed by hijack this from what I have read so far.

Actually I used their search software. I ran it in soft mode and it found the bug. Ran it the second time and it's gone. Reboot my computer at normal, ran AD-Aware and Spybot and not there. Ran Uninstall File by Norton SystemWorks and it somehow recognized the ??xplore.exe which means it still there.

There may just be a registry entry left behind.

I've been using this tutorial to remove spyware. A little dated and quite a time consuming process, but I've learned about a lot of good free spyware tools.

I have had a few systems that I just could not clean up. Reformat and reinstall time.

Thanks for the tutorial. I'm waiting a reply from my Indian friend at Symantec and see what he will recommend. If it won't work, I'll try this.
