XP90 fine for e6600 ?

Hi everyone,

I have a xp90 on a opt170.. I saw that you can get an adapter for skt775 for $5...

This would let me keep & use the xp90 on a new e6600 build.

This should be better than the retail heatsink that comes w/ the e6600 ? right..

Would rather not spend $50 on another heatsink..

BTW, I'd plan to overclock to 3.3-3.6ghz on the new processor..

Thanks for the help

Regards,
Jose

Hi,

Yes... that should be fine.

I'm using XP-120s on my super quiret Conroe machines and they work great. The Xp-90 is a bit smaller, so you 'll need to run the fan a little bit faster; but it's still an excellent cooler.

No, but most E6600 aren't getting to 3.6Ghz. I've got an Ultra 120 on my and I top out a 3.5Ghz after bumping up the vcore as much (or a little more) as I'm comfortable. I usually run it at 3.3Ghz.

That's because most e6600 are "A" stepping.. The guys overseas are getting 3.6-4.0ghz w/ "B" stepping chips.

Now I've heard the "B" steps chips are finally getting sold in the USA..

Jose
