XP90, 90C, or 120

Just wondering which of these 3 is the more reasonable one to get right now. Also will it fit on 1 of the following boards:
Epox EP-9NDA3+
ASRock 939Dual-SATA2

Thx.

According to their website: the XP-90 and XP-90C are "designed to fit all AMD socket 754/939/940 motherboards", except the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra: "capacitors gets in the way". So either should be fine on either board. As for the XP-120, if you use it on the Epox, you can't use DIMM slot 1. Nothing about the ASRock.
Personally, I've never used any, so I can't say anything for sure, but I've heard the website is a pretty good reference for compatibility. Good luck!

the xp90 has the best price-performance ratio. the xp120 is just too big for not so much cooling increase. the xp90c is good if you arent so concerned about the BEST deal.

i put in an xp 120, and although its large, it fit with the heatpipes against my xms pro ram. i added some better case cooling, and here are my temps. Mind you, i live in the pacific, and room temperature is probably 72F-75F. With cooler air temps this may improve even more:

STOCK SOPRANO CASE COOLING / STOCK FX-55 HSF (130nm)
MOBO CPU GPU AMBIENT GPU CORE
IDLE 39C 47C 44C 45C
LOAD 49C 66C 55C 74C

XP-120 W/BETTER CASE COOLING (+ 2 120mm FANS)
MOBO CPU GPU AMBIENT GPU CORE
IDLE 32C 39C 37C 37.75C
LOAD 35C 55.5C 51C 65.75C (MAX, FAR CRY/BF2 AT 62C)

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: THE XP-120 FAN COOLS THE ENTIRE BOARD EXTREMELY WELL, NOT JUST THE CPU. THE CASE COOLING AFFECTED ALL TEMPS, BUT ON THE CPU IT DROPPED ONLY ~3C. (FROM 34C/41C TO 32C/39C). ALSO, THE THERMAL CERAMIQUE IS STILL LESS THAN A WEEK OLD (THERMALRIGHT SUPPLIED, I'V NOT NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE FROM SHIN-ETSU).

THE PANAFLO IS THE FRONT INTAKE. IM USING A CRYSTAL LED (69CFM) FOR THE HS)

I just ordered the xp120!!!

The main reason I ordered it over the xp90 copper was because the specs were better using the xp120!
But the specs were almost as good using the XP90 copper!!
If you decide to get the xp90 go with the copper one NOT the aluminum one!!

Thats just my opinion!!

*** note I found on several sites where the xp90 copper did out perform the xp120.
but then again whats a degree or 2 iether way!***

Congrats JEDIYoda!!! Hope you enjoy it! Another advantage the XP120 has over the XP90 is that it can take a 120mm fan. Using a slow-spinning 120mm fan would probably give the same results as a medium-speed 90mm one, and be quieter to boot. On the other hand, if you're 'lucky' like me and the XP120 won't fit on your motherboard, you're either 'stuck' (not really, still a really good cooler) with the XP90 or gotta look for something else... Like the Sonictower 😉

If your concerned about silence than the xp120 cannot be beat. It cools the same as xp90c and a little better than the xp90 & with the 120mm fan overhang, other components (NB, mosfets, even gfx pcb) are cooled as well. You looked at the SI 120? Compat w/ all mobo's (atleast all that they have come across at TR).

I would prefer to go with the XP90C to be safe. I currently have an SP94 for my P4. Im just hoping that it wont have any clearance problems on the Epox EP-9NDA3+. I will be using 4x512 dimms ocz ram. This being the mb Im leaning towards Other options being the Asrock Dual, and the Asus A8V-D

I got the A8v dlx...the xp120 fits fine. I really like the reviews/looks of that new Asrock. The Epox will be a better oc'er than the A8V, but if your after stability the A8V is tough to beat IMO. It oc's decently as well. You'll be fine w/ the xp90. Enjoy 😉

according to what the xp120 sight said it would fit my mobo!!

I did also take a gander at the si120....I could find no reviews of the si...but according to what I have read the si120 fits all mobo`s!!

again I will post my temps when I get it installed and such!!

Im going to install it on my p4 (I know..intel...lol) 3.2 extreme edition and see what I get!!

Even though I am seriously think about jumping to an all amd set up in the near future!!
