Unclear what the problem is. Are your symptoms only with Red Alert 2? Do you have problems with other games? MP3s? Videos? Desktop/Windows alert sounds and noises?

I guess I just notice it during RA2 since it is the only game I play. It works intermittantly not just during the game it works for everything or nothing. kinda a bummer the C-media is supposed to be real good too. I tried the windows update but have not tested it yet...

Well I am still unclear. I admit that it still does sound like a motherboard issue at first glance, but it might not be. I would be much more thorough in playing MP3s or videos and checking out another game. Check to see if there are any conflicts in the system manager/devices in the control panel.

When diagnosing a problem you have to be very detailed, precise, and methodic. It's kinda hard guessing over the internet with such a 'general' description of a problem.

Ok I'll try again. I Have sound sometimes(not in a game but for everything) but other times after a reboot I have no sound it is a general problem and there are no real special variables that change from reboot to reboot. I either have it or I don't. Pretty F-ing pathetic I think I might disable and try a SB Live or something cause I am tired of the BS. Also Every once in awhile the computer shuts down by itself and you reboot the CMOS has cleared and it reads as a "CMOS checksum Error"

I do not recommend this XP333-R anymore. I am too lazy to put together a P4 1.6A. hate formatting losing info backing up and such. not to mention there are too many choices for Mobos out there for the 1.6A

sorry for the rant I just want this C-media card to work

btw I did get an upgrade for the sound from the Iwill website worked for one reboot then a no go on another reboot.

I have the same problem, however it only occurs at over 133 FSB, my Duron will do all the way up to 160 FSB and prolly further, however the sound will not work at that FSB. I wish I had an answer as well. :( I have version 2.1 that was suppose to be the good one as well. :frown:

EDIT: I might have a fix, don't know yet, have not had the time to completely test it. Here is what I did.

1. Updated the bios to the 04/11/02 bios
2. Removed the C-Media drivers I installed via the CD that came with the motherboard.
3. Ran Windows Update and installed 5.12.1.636 drivers dated 06/04/02.
4. Reboot
5. Sound is now working at an FSB of 160mhz with my Duron. :D Again, this is on a revision 2.1 motherboard.

Hope this helps :) If you need help, PM me ;)

Also, make sure that the C-media sound is using it's own IRQ and not sharing with a NIC, modem, etc. :D
