XP2800 CPU temp's for 100% dedicated DC machines

Might seem like this is just another cpu temp question, however, since this has to do with 100% dedicated DC computer which is very cpu intensive, I thought it appropriate to post here. I just built a dedicated machine with an amd xp2800 running 24/7. Anyone have a similar setup and can tell me what they run for temps? I want to make sure I got the cooling set correctly since it will never get a break.

Thanks

It depends on the heatsink/fan. I have a really nice Zalman that is currently keeping my 3200+ Barton at a cool 49 C in the hot California summer.

anywhere from 40c to about 55c is acceptable and normal for an xp cpu.
55c is a bit on the high side, i personally wouldnt want it higher than that.
40-50c is about what you need to aim for, imho.

MY 2500 Mobile@2665MHz does DC 24/7 and its temps are 45Deg C. Personally i wouldn't go above 50. You could always pick up a aeroflo and some AS5 if you find your temps alittle high.

With a Vantec Aeroflow on my Antec TruePower380's fan only header (basically running at 5V), my 2500+ @ 3200+ (1.75V) is running at 48C in my basement (28C case temp).

Stock HS/Fan 3200+ Barton, overclocked as far as 3200 DDR will let me, 63 C , no problems.

are those aeroflows loud?

i wonder what my temps would be if i put the delta screamer back on my HSF, instead of the no-name 80 mm i have right now.

anyway, athlons can take a lot. i had one up in the 80s with no permanent damage (forgot to plug in the fan)

They're moderately loud. Nothing too annoying but it would suck to have to sleep in the same room as one. I have a Zalman Fanmate on mine right now and turned all the way down it's about the same volume as the 120mm case fan on my Sonata on the fan only header.

Was running exactly the same config here with AS3, ran at 60c under full load, temps have dropped 10c now that i have my Silent Boost ;)

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I started monitoring the temp for the first time on my 2.6 P4C. I was shocked when I saw it running between 67 - 71 degrees! I'm running two copies of f@h on here 24/7. When I shut them down my idle temps usually drop down to around 41 - 43 degrees. Is thi normal for a P4C at 100% load all the time.

Edit: Left out some info. Gigabyte GA-8IK1100, stock HSF, and according to mbm5 the case temps around around 25 degrees.

Yep...Running the United Devices client here and I had a Palomino XP2000+ that occasionally would hit 72C if the filters weren't very clean. That was using a Thermalright AX-7 with a 46CFM fan.

Since then I have solved (for myself) a few issues I have seen in the Cases and cooling forum many times.
My Barton 2500+ (@2x198FSB)I am using right now is running 24C case and 43-44C CPU @ 1.775V (100% load)(48-49 if I 7V my CPU fan and 3 of my case fans) I use a Thermalright 800U with a Panaflo U1A (46CFM) Smart Fan II will drop another 3-4C, but sounds like a hair dryer.

I don't use case filters anymore because of flow reduction and as of a few weeks ago I am lapping all my heatsinks to 2000 grit then polishing the base with metal polish. The first PC I tried this on CPU temps dropped by 5C.

Unless The 71C temp you posted is the actual diode reading You could burn that puppy up! A good HS/fan combo will bring that temp down at least 10C.

hey, that's the one I recommend to everyone. or if you're really anal about quiet and cold, you could go with the....

ultimate air cooling heat sink with one of these 92mm fans. (or an even faster fan if you don't mind a jet turbine sound eminating from your pc.) (note the thermaltake heatsink only works on mobo's with the 4hole mount, it won't mount to the socket)

Here's a "budget" Thermalright solution: ALX800
It doesn't come with a fan so you can choose is you want quiet or massive cooling.

My son's PC has one of these and it works comparable to the 800U on mine.

The best heatsink available for AMD is the Thermalright SP-97. I have had my Mobile up to 2730 MHz at 2Volts Vcore. And my temp under load never broke 50 Deg C. I have a 92mm High flow Panaflo on my SP-97. It flows ALOT of air and is fairly quiet.

So the one I posted is kind of loud? Or it's ok and the other solution is even better?

This may end up being an interesting "FAQ" for DC. Maybe we can break things down by budget, cooling effectiveness, and sound... Not that I don't have enough projects as it is. :p

EDIT: Forgot to say: Thanks for the suggestions guys! Keep them coming. I may try out a few of them, if I have the time and money of course. ;)

The falcon rock is fine, it's just not as good at cooling (for xp3200+ and lower, it's good and extremely quiet) for OC'ing systems. My 2500+ OC'd to 2800+ runs between 48-51C under full seti load, that's in a fairly warm room (75-85F)
