XP2800+ Barton Temperature

My dad has an XP2800+ Barton. When i start Everest Home Edition it is reporting the following info:

Motherboard 20 °C (68 °F)
CPU 46 °C (115 °F)
CPU Diode 61 °C (142 °F)
Maxtor 6Y080L0 27 °C (81 °F)

Cooling Fans
CPU 1474 RPM

Voltage Values
CPU Core 1.71 V


I know the CPU fan is going slowly, but its on a Zalman CNPS6000ALCu, which is rated up to 2800 Barton with this fan speed, and I'm running 4 case fans, two at the front intake, 2 at back exhaust (all at about 2000rpm)


What I want to know is, is the temperature that people talk about when they said "My CPU is at" - the CPU, or the CPU Diode temperature? 46 seems fine, but 61 is a little high isn't it? (the temps go to about 50-55 and 63-65 respectively under load...


Should we be worried about this or not? Is it perfectly safe for this chip to operate at 65? And what is the difference between CPU and CPU diode?

When we talk about temps, we all use the socket temp. Hardly anyone has a motherboard that will display the die temp, and if they do, they don't know how to set up MBM to display it, anyway. If your XP2800 is only getting up to 55C under full load (socket temps, we don't use die temps, unless Jeff7181 is around😀), then you're in no danger of harming it. As long as it's stable at the temps you get it up to, you have nothing to worry about.
