Question is would there be any significant performance between the two processors? I have exhausted searching for this information and have not found anything to help me with the question... Maybe someone here could explain if there is any noticeable perfmance increase with the XP2700?

Reason I ask is that I am looking to either downgrade to the XP2500 Barton or upgrade to something better. In the mean time my thoughts of an FX64 is out of the picture until after 6months.

Sorry, should have specified my intensions. I 'Was' thinking of overclocking the xp2500. But I am not sure were to get one that was manufactured b4 week 41. So... if I were to find one that I could o/c to 3200+ speeds would I see a gain in perfamance?

I personally wouldn't downgrade, since it might be hard to find an unlocked Barton, and since you should be able to reach the same speed with a 2700. I'm guessing you have a Thoroughbred B? They don't give you the headroom the Barton 2500 does, but it's only a 200 MHz jump or so to get Barton 3200 performance out of it.

I have an unlocked 2500 and haven't even touched the multiplier yet, I just bumped to 200. I see a noticeable gain in performance from when I had used the multiplier to run at 2800+ speeds.
