Just wondering which processor I will get better results with?

I guess im overclocking pretty good with my setup of fans

xp1600+ .. its OC'd to 152fsb and 1.6ghz

Ram: 2 sticks of "generic" PC3200 in each channel ....
Does it matter if its genaric considering its 400mhz-fsb and a new CPU probably will not get that far right?

Motherboard: Its the Asus Nforce2 333mhz dual-chan ddr 400 ..

I dont want to spend aloe and $120 is the price range im looking at.

XP2500 & XP2600 look like my best options but which will get best performance in my system?

I heard all kinds of opinions on whats better so im guessing it depends on the system they are going in..

Any help will be appreciated..

both are almost the same, i would go with the 2500+ since it has a lower multiplier. it has a better chance of overclocking since all chips are locked now. if both were unlocked, then it really would not matter.

pm me if you want an unlocked chip

I never had very good luck overclocking with the 2500+, but I've got two 2600+ bartons, one OEM and one retail, that do 200fsb easy.

if you look around, there a plenty of success stories with the 2500+. people rarely hear about the 2600+, but i am sure they are the same

2500+ Barton is more common to find, because it is such a popular overclocker. But remember if you are buying it now, that you need to find a before week 39, 2003 Barton 2500+ that is unlocked. All Bartons come locked now.

I, as you can see, have a 2500+ and the only reason I can't OC higher is bc of my RAM. I think I could probably get to 2.5 with PC3200/3500 RAM.

I would recommend the 2600, I have one myself (A week 37...woohoo!). It's a decent overclock, too.

I would probably get the Barton 2600, since it has the same chance of hitting 200fsb, and will run at a higher clock speed, assuming you do hit 200.
