which one is better for immense gaming use? I am planning to go for wither one. I hear the Barton has a special 640kb caching for 3d gaming apps. what bout the thorough bred???? isnt it supposed to be better?

are you planning on OCing?

if not, the 2700+ is obviously faster. the extra cache doesnt make much of a difference esp in gaming

2500+ overclocks very well and it's very good for gaming. nowadays I have it at 12,5x166(2800XP) being ram memory (DDR333) the limiting factor. Use it with Nforce 2 Chipset to achieve the best results possible.

ummmm what? the 2500+ is actually faster than the 2600+ in gaming benchmarks due to the extra L2 however in other "mhz" related benches the 2700+ will win......
Im willing to be he will OC it......if he does get the 2500+ itll mroe than likely top out right up there where the 2700+ would and still be faster.

Definaly the 2500+ for overclocking. Has anybody messes around overclocking a 2700+. I've had mine for about 6 months now and haven't tried overclocking it yet. I'm thinking about upgrading when the Nforce3 comes out and want to play around with my 2700+ now. :D I know its not the best for overclocking just want to play with it a little.

if you are gonna oc, i would pick the 2500+ between the two and a 1700+ over the 2500+
