 I'm sure this is a common question. Just not sure what to purchase? I'm using 512MB PC2700 Ram
A Soyo Kt-333 Dragon Ultra PE Mobo. Win. XP. Any opinions on one over the other ? They're only about $8.00 apart in price?
I don't do any gaming myself. but I have kids and this is a second Rig? Who knows I might start playing some games?
I know it's not really a gaming Mobo.... compared to many of the other boards that people are using. I'm just using a Geforce Ti-4200 64MB DDR and TBSC 5.1 sound card. I have a XP2600t on another Rig/Default settings. Will I see a big difference using an XP2400t or XP2500t? Compared to the XP2600t? The 2600t has a fairley simular configuration.
512MB DDR RAM, Ti-4200 64MB , GA-7VAXP, and a Sound Blaster Audigy MP3t. Win. XP.

Thanks

An XP2500 is going to be a big disappointment. That board is a 266/133mhz FSB board, not a 333/166mhz. I have the same board and am currently exchanging a DOA XP2400+. Soyo does have a special BIOS on their website for it for the Low Powered CPU's. Stay with the ones that explicitly for 266mhz for that board unless you are very curious. I would have to reccomend getting the 1700 or 1800 because of the price and that you already own the board.

Thanks l3ored. My BAD! The +'s are above the = on the keyboard. Not the lower case t's! UHHH! DAH!!! So what do you think of Trumphent's comment ? Should I just go with the 1700 or 1800 ?

Shady06 . Thanks for the input. I went back and forth on the Motherboards. I'm on my second system build. I've justed started to dabble in this. I'm probably a little late to the game/show. I've been really interested in this board based on the previous reviews.... Then the Soyo-Kt-400 & the Kt-400a came out but really to mixed reviews.... Then the 600 & the 800 came out. Bing Bang Boom. But they seemed like they are aimed at a lower price point. Soyo seems be trying to regain its market share based on the beating it's been taking from the Nforce2 chip. I mean I was going to buy the Kt-400. But I don't think that for what my applications will be that it is really a better board than the Kt-333. And for $88.00 with tax & shipping it's not a bad deal. Especially considering it was a $130.00 board 4 months ago. $200.00 if you bought it @ COMPUSA. Granted it's not the latest & the greatest. But, It sure beats my 3 year old 20 GIG P4 (cough, cough (Gateway) Cough).

Thanks again.
