Edit: Price change to $89 (noticed this on 3/6/03).

Thought this might be worth posting. GameVE.com has this OEM chip for $84 shipped. Not bad for a guaranteed tbred B with a stepping that has been a great overclocker! Includes a 90 day dealer warranty.

Here is the link:

Excaliburpc.com charges $100 to $101 shipped for similar chips:

I ordered an Abit siluro 64mb otes from gameve without incident. I also have an xp2100 0304 running at 2.22Ghz right now so all is good!

I don't know about that. ALL I can give is my experience over the past week or so which was fine.

This sounds like a good deal.

What overclock, if any, can I expect with my ECS K7S5A (1.1) on this chip?
Currently have the 1400 AMD, was looking to boost cpu a bit to go along with
a 9500 pro or the like.

Thanks

Sounds like a good deal and I have made 4 purchases each over a few hundred and had no problems with them...although they got a crappy e-mail/tracking system...

Oh well off my soap box I guess

Good price but I rather get it when its a XP2400+ @ 50 bucks shipped.

That will be a long time. Maybe 1 year.

Not crap threading or anything, but didn't AnandTech drop GameVE from the monthly price guides recently?

Should it be thread crapping? Or crap threading? 😀

j/k

Reseller rating looks marginal. Results seem to be somewhat bipolar, you either love them or you hate them.

If they put my chip in a box, ship it within a decent amount of time and stand behind it for 90 days I will give them a rating bump.

Does newegg guarantee an athlon b or do you just take your chances and see what you get?

I am not sure if they do, but their turnover is soo high that you are pretty much guarenteed one. I ordered and received one last week and it was a B 0304.

i hate gameVE, i ordered an Abit IT7-Max2 V2, the one pictured was black, and I called them up to verify this and upgrade my shipping.

they did neither, even though, the person WHO COULDNT SPEAK ENGLISH, "GARNTEY IT" (guaranteed it).

Hey guys, The discription says Thoroughbred but the die size says its a Palomino (quote) Die size: approximately 37.5 million transistors on 128mm2. Manufactured using AMD's state-of-the-art 0.18-micron copper process technology at AMD's Fab 30 wafer fabrication facility in Dresden, Germany.
Stick with newegg, I heard that another price drop is coming soon.😀

I vote for Newegg too. I have always had the best experiences with them 🙂

Newegg shipping is free, and $93 for the chip. This place is $5.64 ground to me. Newegg's is fedex free. HMM A little over $3 difference now. If the other place was selling for $70 id go for it. But it's not worth it compared to if you have ever had to RMA something to newegg, which is hastle free. I've sent quite a few questionable RMA's back to them, that might have been my fault. And never once denied. And fast turn around.

Im waiting on a RMA'd 2100 now from newegg, already shipped.

If you want cheaper, here's cheaper and still a safe store. Same chip "B"

gameve = inconsistent with shipping not to mention crummy CS =(

i'll pay a 10$ difference and go with memoryx or newegg

BTW - got my XP2100 Tbred B AIUHB 0301 from Gameve two days ago. Running 13x166 rock stable, the BIOS identifies the CPU as an XP2700 (which I know is not completely correct).

Not bad for $84 shipped.

i also got my chip today from gameve...
Tbred B 0306 chip.

purchased it on Monday night for $84 + tax = $90.xx shipped. Arrived today.
will test it tomorrow on my friends board.

They have good prices but their return stocking fee's are bad 15%. However, I have had good customer service from them and received my product in a very timely manner

If your motherboard and / or bios can handle it, you want the tbred "B" revision. This chip runs cooler and is much more easily overclocked compared to tbred "A" and palomino chips.

My XP2100 runs at XP2700 speed with only a mild vcore bump on my epox 8rda+ . . .

I have the 0301, vcore had to be raised to 1.8 to get it to run flawlessly. CPU temp runs 114F under prime95 torture test. Goes to show, with overclocking YMMV . . .

BTW - what memory and timings are you running. I have the Kingston HyperX PC3000 512MB (one stick) running at 7-3-3 CAS2. Should I be able to bump this a bit? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
