xp2100 palamino at 166fsb?

Is that possible because i have an xp2100 palamino, and i was wondering if it would work on the new mobo(nf7) i was gonna get at 166fsb?

Probably. But unlike the T-Breds, palominos' multipliers are locked if I remember correctly. You would have to unlock it to change the multiplier.

I had the chip some time ago and bought a new board in hopes it would clock at 166 fsb. my exp. you do have to unlock the chip to set it at a lower multy. id sell it and get a 2500 and clock it with a 200 fsb but thats my thought.

that's probably what i'm going to do. I just want a cheap substitute for my old pos because everything going haywire on this mobo. I'm saving for the real thing= athlon 64 fx 939 pin supports unregistered ram i hear.

Be careful; check the unlocking guides for palaminos before you decide to try. Also, it's coming up to winter, these chips will nicely warm your whole living room (joke) but they already run warm, I had a heck of a time cooling mine, can't imagine overclocking the thing. They're also the "top" of the palamino line in terms of speed so really don't have much headroom.

So many 1700 tb'b's cry out for new homes at the buy sell trade forums; also nice tbred 2100's - but I know, sometimes we need a challenge.
