XP2000+Onboard Everything=>200W PSU Enough?

This is the proposed setup:

CPU: AMD XP2000
RAM: 256MB Corsair PC3200
Motherboard: ABIT VA-10 / MSI KM4M-L (both MicroATX boards)
Video: Integrated
Sound: Integrated
Harddisk: 40GB 7200RPM Maxtor
CDRW Drive: Sony 52x32x52
Floppy Drive: Sony 1.44MB
Case: MicroATX case with 200W power supply.

The power supply is some no-name brand that comes with the microATX case. Is 200W enough for such a basic setup?

How can I tell from the specs of the power supply, before making a purchase?

Does it make a big difference if my motherboard comes with a P4(12V) connector?

A 12V connector doesn't change how much power is inherently required by the hardware, it just adds two additional 12V and ground wires to help deliver 12V power. I think you already know my opinion on the no-name 200W PSU from your other thread... after 10000+ posts, I've seen enough to conclude that no-name PSUs increase one's chance of problems, and so do "just-enough" PSUs.

Once I accidentally pulled the plug of my surge protector out of the wall most of the way by stepping on the cord. The monitor went out. I kicked the plug upwards to re-engage it, and what do you know... the Enermax 365-series PSU had so much hold-up in those big burly capacitors that the computer itself was still running. Try that with a 200W no-name PSU 😀

I'm running...
AXP1700
2 HDD's
52x burner
DVD
sound
GF3 ti200
512mem
network card
tv tuner
....
on about 250W.
You should be fine.

nope. just don't expect a slot for it in your AMD motherboard.. 😀

Mine not only has one, it won't boot without it plugged in.
