How much improvement would I see going from the 1900 to 2400?
I only have PC2100 RAM (1GB so I don't want to give it up just yet) and a 256MB stick of PC2700, so I'd be limited if I went with a Barton :(
RAM won't really overclock (but I can't be sure, since I have no PCI/AGP lock on current board, so it might be the whole system holding it back), it's generic RAM.

Would a 2400+ be worth it? Do most TBreds come unlocked for higher mults? I might be able to get a 2400+M if it's worth it, are they unlocked for higher mults?

Currently UT2k4 runs like a complete dog, so I'm thinking an upgrade is in order, and since I have a Radeon 9800, the CPU and mobo have to go (nForce 2 seems like around 10% faster thna the KT333, so I'm expecting a nice boost even just from that).

I'm looking at an ABit NF7 v2.0 (not the S) and either a 2400+ or Mobile 2400+ (depending in how much better it is, since price is very similar).
Currently have ABit KR7A (KT266A) and Palomino 1900+.

And suggestions? I'll have to stick with current RAM as I don't have the money to buy any more at the moment.

TIA.

Get the Mobile 2400+, it will be unlocked to give you the best options for tweaking.

Yep. That way you can run synch mode@2100DDR speed but boost the clockspeed as high as possible thanks to multi manipulation. 2100DDR dual channel synch mode will be OK, look at it this way, it's better to have 1gb of 2100DDR right now than 512mb of 2700/3200DDR given how much ram new games are eating. I'd rather lose the bandwidth and have enough ram than force a game to go to the swap file ;)

Also, the mobile 2400+ will likely hit 2.4ghz+ so you will be picking up some very serious CPU preformance over a stock 1900+, and unmatched sktA overclocking performance thanks to AGP/pci lock. 2400+ desktop right now is a waste of your time due to locked multis and low speed ram=2400+ mobile a must ;) BTW, pay the extra for the NF7-S it's worth it.

Seeing how you are not going to upgrade your PC2100 ram, you are going to have to go with a CPU that is multiplier unlocked. But a 1900+ to a 2400+ is not that big of jump really, unless it accomplished by a higher FSB instead of multiplier.

I'm hoping that combined with KT266 to nForce2 it will be a bigger jump, as the nForce 2 is about 10% faster than the KT333.
Plus my system never seemed to perform as well as it should, not sure why, even with different RAM and a new graphics card :(
I think the mobo is really quite awful.
