I'm about to build a new system:

Abit NF7-S nForce II
Twinmos PC3200 2x256Mb DDR
Thermalright SK-7 (or SLK800/900)

The obvious choice for processor being an XP1800+ T'Bred B running@200FSB - 2300Mhz.

I'm trying to keep my overclock simple - everything in spec. (except the CPU?) - I've just done a XP1700+@166FSB with no problems for a mate.

My next choices - taking cost into account would be XP2200+ T'Bred B@166FSB - 2250Mhz (XP2800+) or an XP2500+ Barton@200FSB - 2200Mhz.

Could you please help me with my choice.

You would have to be lucky to run 200MHZ FSB with a 1800XP. Get an 0302 Stepping XP2100 @ excaliberpc, these chips do 2.3ghz+ easily, you should be able to run 200FSB with this chip.

Good choice on the Abit NF7-S. Just make sure to get a rev. 1.2. The new rev. lets you adjust the VDD (chipset voltage). This mb is the only nforce2 which pretty much guarantees you 200MHz fsb. They have these at eXcaliberPC.com.
And I would get a 1700+ AIUHB, or a 2100+ AIUHB. You can expect 100MHz or so more with the 2100+. I agree with Human about eXcaliberPC. Their service is fantastic and you can choose the stepping and week. I also like the 0302, but it is starting to seem to me that the week of manufacture doesn't have much to do with it, as long as its a newer AIUHB.
I think you may as well get the slk-800. It's 34.95 at SVC.com. I don't think you should skimp on cooling.

1700+ dont' come in AIUHB variety.... but rather JIUHB

i agree that you should go with a 1700+ ... you have a good chance of hitting over 2.2 ghz :) (but expect between 2.1 and 2.2 ghz)

I ordered a 1700+ Soltek FRN-75 L Combo, Thermaltake Volcano 7 Coolmod and 40 Gig WD. When is it going to come! I cant wait? I've heard alot of good things about the Red Storm overclocking utillity. I hope I can atleast hit 166Mhz and 2Ghz with my Processor. I have Samsung 2700 256MB. When will it come! I want it now! How long does UPS Ground Shipping take from excailberpc?

Many thanks. I will be getting a rev 1.2 ABIT NF7-S. I will now probably get an XP1800+ or XP2100+ - The t'Bred Bs are slowly shipping into the UK but there is always the difficulty of identifying them.

Will let you all know of my results.
