Got an XP1500 myself on an Asus A7V 266-E ,so far I have only overclocked via FSB & have had to stop @ 145MHz (1450MHz) as I get lock ups above that even with more cpu voltage(haven't tried any tweaking with RAM voltage yet) .Funny thing is it will get to windows as high as 1550MHz:confused:.
Atm I'm guessing I'm pushing the RAM or AGP/PCI too hard but I won't really know until I play more & unlock the cpu;)

So I was wondering what MHz you guys are hitting with the XP 1500/1600?
Would also like to know what cooling your are using, voltages for cpu & RAM ,FSB,RAM maker/specs

My specs Ath XP 1500 @ 1450MHz (10x145)
cpu vcore 1.79v
RAM volts 2.65v
HSF - GW FOP 32 ,2 case fans inlet & exhaust & PSU fan exhausting
512Mb DDR Crucial CL2.5 @ 2-2-2-5,4 way interleaving,

[update]
increasing the RAM precharge to 6 from 5 has allowed me to go up to 1520 MHz (10x152) :D.(see lower post for details)
cpu vcore 1.79v
IO(RAM) volts 2.65v

I just got lucky and got a very good chip. About time, my T-Bird 1400 would only do 1533Mhz...
And a 150mhz isn't something to sneeze at, to get more (like the 1550 you mentioned) try upping the voltage, but beware that this will increase heat quite a bit (several degrees C).

I've gotten my XP1600+ up to as high as 152 FSB and it worked fine.. It's just rather warm here in NYC this December, so it's getting a little temperate.. I have it on an MSI K7T PRO2 (KT266A) mobo.. Right now, she's running at 146 completely stable...

cheers,

I've tried upping the cpu vcore but it didn't seem to help much ,I was still getting an almost instant lock up in 3D games in anything over 145 MHz ,I did try changing the AGP driving strength to EA which did allow it to run much longer but it still locked after about 1/2 hr of 3D games.
Anyway I haven't given up yet & I will get it higher;)

What HSF are you using & how does it compare to my GW FOP 32?

Keep us posted :)

Well I got it higher,it's now running at 1.52GHz:)

1st thing I tried was to set the memory timings to SPD to slow them down & give my RAM a chance to handle the higher FSB.
That changed the settings from 2-2-2-5 (which I had set in user defined) to 3-3-3-6 ,which allowed me to crank the cpu right up to 1.6GHz (10x160)though it needed 1.86v to run stabily.
From Sisoft Sandra I got from a single run
ALU 887 Mb/s
FPU 936 Mb/s

At 1.6 GHz though it was running about 5C hotter than @ 1.45GHz with 1.79v ,also knowing that increasing the RAM latency would also hurt performance in SETI & games I decieded to lower the FSB & reduce the latency to 2-2-2-6.I tried running @ 155MHz but despite increasing the cpu vcore & then the IO voltage (which oddly made it lock up just after the wallpaper loaded ,that's with 2.75 & 2.8v:confused: ) I could not get it to run Unreal (my testing game). So I lowered the FSB down to 152MHz & it seems fine now:).It seems it was the RAM precharge setting of 5 that was limiting me to 145MHz previously.
I now get this from Sisift Sandra
ALU 894 Mb/s
FPU 959 Mb/s

At 1520 MHz with 1.79v it doesn't seem to run any hotter than 1450 MHz

That will do me until I unlock the CPU ,at which point I might try 10.5x152 to give me 1596MHz.

The max I can O/C my XP 1600+ is 1.53ghz 145x10.5. Running a 128mb Corsair PC2400 at 2.7v. This is terrible. I got good rams and my xp can can't overclock anymore than 145fsb.

I XP1500 us running at 1426.5 MHz. I have the ECS SIS735 motherboard, without the overclockers BIOS, so I have to overclock in windows using the CPUFSB program. My FSB is 143, and I run distributed projects on my machine 24/7. Not a bad overclock for a cheap motherboard.

I haven't pushed it any farther, as I have a cheapo power supply. When I get some balls, I'll try the 146.6 FSB. I cannot change the multiplier unless I mess with the jumpers on the cpu. My motherboard also supports 166 MHz FSB and even a 200 MHz fsb.

.. What the hell - I'll try using FSB to bump it up and see what I get.... I'll be back :D

Nice over clock! :) ,what FSB are avialable for your Abit m/brd?

sad
Jesus that's some seriuos MHz you gotta out of that!:) ,not too surprising though I guess with your 'cool' gear ;)

Mikeman
Only for the XP1500 10x133=1.33GHz
XP1600 10.5x133=1.4GHz
XP1700 11 x133=1.46GHz
XP1800 11.5x133=1.53GHz
XP1900 12 x133=1.6GHz
XP2000 12.5x133=1.66GHz (not out yet)

Go for it ;)

XP 1600+ running at 1727 MHz, 150X11.5... vcore at 2.08 volts.

Epox 8KTA3 Pro motherboard, 640 MB Kingmax PC-150 ram.

Alpha 8045 HSF, with Delta 80mm/80 CFM fan...keeps it at 39C max.

System stays at 20C.

Yeah - the fan is loud, but damn effective!

Moving to water cooling, soon as my Spiral (TM) DTEK Flowmaster DTEK kit makes it's way to me...

AGKGA "Y", week 34 chip.

Well... I went for it! :D

I am now running at 1466.5 MHz (146.6 FSB). I tried 150 MHz, but it crashed straight away. My guess is that it crashed because of memory (I use PC 133 SDRAM), and not the cpu. Not a bad overclock for a motherboard with no overclocking capability in the BIOS. The great think about overclocking with CPUFSB is that if there is a crash, it boots up again at default speed. And, of course, you can change speeds without rebooting.

Edit: Cool! I guess I have an Athlon 1700 now (even better since the fsb is higher than normal).

Running ECCp for the last 30 minutes, my cpu temp is 55C, according to MProbe.exe. I use a "standard" copper HSF combo. The cpu is running at default voltage, since I can't up it with my motherboard.

AK31A W/XP1500+@1.46ghz (146x10) 42c high load, 1.85v, 384mb Crucial DDR 2100 cas2.5@ 2.55v, cas2, fastest timings I had it up to 155fsb but it locked up on games and burn-in so I backed off until it stablized under heavy loads. I have no intention of unlocking the multiplier as I bought a retail version. My power supply is the most likely culprit as it's a 200 max output, 300w Sparkle. I'll make a more serious attempt when I upgrade my PS.

It might be your RAM which is limiting you ,I'm not familiar with your board but if you can set the RAM precharge to 6 instead of 5 you may be able to overclock higher ,doing that allowed me to go from 145 MHz to 152 MHz :)

I'm a newbie to overclocking and I have a AthlonXP 1600+@1.6GHz( 10.5 x 152 FSB). I booted up Win2k and ran some benchmarks fine. But when I restarted, I got a message saying that I have corrupted files and to run CHKDSK. What should I do first? Should I lower back down to stock specs and do a recovery setup(if possible w/o losing data) OR do I have to reinstall win2k from scratch. Please let me know.

Should I lower the FSB by doing 12.0 x 133 FSB = 1.6GHz?!?!?

Thanks!

System:
AthlonXP 1600+@1.53GHz (10.5 x 145)
VisionTek Geforce3 Ti-200
Crucial 256 MB PC2100 DDR
20GB WD HD:cool:

I'm running at 133Mhz X 12 (XP1900+)
I could run it at 133 X 12.5 (XP2000+?), but I got to take the voltage to 1.85
The reason I don't o/c my FSB is 'cuz I got a flakey SCSI card which gives me errors on anything above 138 or so.
But if I remove the SCSI card the fun begins!
I've hit about 170mhz FSB (of course with less agressive memory timings)
I can prob go higher if I really cranked up my DDR voltage and 3.5 voltage like those crazy guys in Japan

I'm having problem trying to unlock my Athlon XP 1600+. I superglued the gaps and used conductive silver epoxy(from CrazyPC) to connect the bridges in L1. When I booted up, the CPU either shows up as a Athlon 1200MHz or AthlonXP 1444MHz(if i remember correctly). I got this on my first try so I did it again from scratch. I got the same thing. Could you help me out? Do you think is the silver epoxy(not being too conductive) or what am I doing wrong? Any tips! Thanks!
