Hi, I am considering a xp-120 for a P4 2.53 Northwood on a ASUS P4PE. Is it compatible? or is it too large for it?
I am considering it before the rig will probably be upgraded to a A64 system within a year or two.
Also, I would like to know what is a good fan for it. Thanks!

It's actually an easy install in terms of getting it attached. Trying to work around whatever is in yoru case already...it's a b. Take the mobo out...save yourself some pain.

Honestly, that's overkill for a 2.53 GHz Cpu even O/C to 3.3. I'd pick up this Zalman which is a good HSF and quiet to boot: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de...760766?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846

and then sell it off in a year or two. No doubt there will be better cooling devices in a couple of years that may be a better match for your future rig.

I agree...however, he wants one he can carry through an upgrade. I guess it depends on how much oc'ing he's gonna attempt since they both mount on Prescott's and A64's

I have it, was easy as cake to install on my A8V, best/quietest air cooler on the market. Check compatability on your mobo and it is quite large, but well worth it!

Toattett, sounds like you got a big problem there with your awesome $3000+ FX55 CPU, have you posted about it in the CPU and Overclocking forum yet? We'd love to help get the beast working.
