I was approached to be a XP x64 beta tester on my super slower Celeron 2Ghz, 512 MB ram. The purpose is to test slightly outdated program (Office 2000 among others), as a regular day-to-day user. I don't mind having some error situations, but I do mind if all my daily tasks become too slow. I don't like to commit, and have to back out later. Anyone has idea what troubles I might have?

The speed is as fast or faster then 32 bit windows, the only problem is the drivers. if your hardware is supported then no problems.

Your not wrong but I think some of the celerons were 64 bit ready.

Are you sure that Proc is 64 bit? I really doubt it...

You guys are right, we must have misunderstanding over our phone calls. Let's see, maybe I'll get a new computer for this testing. Then again, the gentleman kept mention, "everyone will want to use the 64 bits windows." Maybe some surprise coming..., Windows XP 1.5 for under-educated consumers? I remeber WinMe.

It Does Not matter Slow, Fast, what ever.

To use Windows x64 you need.

64 bits capable Motherboard

64 bits capable processor.

Peripherals that have 64 bits drivers.

Almost all computers that are more than a year old do not meet these conditions,,as well as many newer computers.

Some celerons support 64 bit, I'm to lazy to look up which ones though. I kind of figured the 2Ghz model didn't seemed kinda slow.
